Well I'm off for my annual deer hunt to Michigan. Opening day is 11/15, and I will be in the woods at 6am sharp. I'll be thinking of all ya'll here in the real world. I'm saying my prayers for safe hunt and a full freezer! :)
How's the deer hunting going in the other states?

:goodluck: Will! Ours starts on Saturday. I'll be inna woods. :tup2:
Mine too. Saturday morning dark and early. My father and I went out this past sunday to scope things out. My stand is as active as ever and the other stands we have are looking promising as well too. Shot a 9 point buck last year and hopefully I'll get as lucky this year. I'm a meat hunter though, so I'm happy with a nice doe or two as well!
As much as I love deer hunting, it'll never compare to hunting turkeys.

:goodluck: For a safe hunt, not for filling the freezer.
There are so many deer in MI I got mine with my drivers license. :crap:
Well thats where I'v been...made it back safe, thats all I can claim...Had a great time. I hunt with my daughter, her boy freind , my father in law,and three others in Lake Co, MI...None of us tagged anything but we all saw deer. The count was down, however my buddy from the M-37 Meat Shack said he is ahead of last year but the warm weather my have brought them in faster..The racks seam to be running much bigger also..He had some great looking 8-10s--( points eastern count) Hope everyonr else had a good time and stayed safe.Back out this Fri..

Just got off the phone with my Mom. My Aunt in Ada, Michigan pegged an 8-point buck last weekend and got another 8-point this weekend when she went out to keep my 88 year-old grandfather (Ionia, MI) company. He didn't get anything this time out but he's going again later in the week if the weather holds.
Appearantly, my aunt broke all the *rules* with this second one. She decided to call my grandmother on her cell phone to wish her a happy birthday, she set her gun down and she lit a cigarette. These are things she NEVER EVER does. Grandpa's been hunting all his life and he's positively beaming about my aunt's bucks. He says the racks are absolutely perfect. It's a rare occasion when he gushes about one of his daughters so we're all super proud of my aunt over this one.
Good luck to the rest of you,
Shaughnn
Out of the 4 of us, we've got 1 doe so far that my dad shot today. We go again Thursday-Sunday, so hopefully our luck will change. The weather is supposed to be pretty decent, so at least it won't be too miserable if I don't get anything. :lol2:
Regardless of whether I get one or not, I love being able to spend time with my dad and hang out in the woods!

I heard the Harvest in Minnesota was the 4th highest on record (since theyve been keeping track of these things which is somewhere around 70 years)
I didnt Hunt this year..........was too busy andI'm still a bit hesitant to shoot the big bore.......(neck and all makes me a bit nervous, figured it wouldnt kill me to skip 1 year)
I was told complete healing would be 12-15 months SO.......That meant Dec 20th or so for that 15 months mark and being a smoker i figured its always the longer of the 2 time frames LOL ;)
Best Buck Locally ran to 268#'s Field Dressed and sported a 7 point rack (western Count) with 27" & 25 1/2" Main Tines and a 21" Center spread......In other words, One helluvanicefreaking deer with Awesome Genetics!!!! They figured he was 4 1/2 years old. I havent heard a score yet but it should be an excellent B&C typical in the 390-430 range.....Shot by a 15 year old GIRL!!!!! :tup2:
