Welcome dingomaster.
This isn't the easiest subject to talk about without getting a bit specific. I'm not the guru on stone care, so I'm going to move you over to the "Cleaning, Restoration, & Sealing forum" for them to look at.
Help them out by getting a little specific on what you are looking to do. Do you have something that is old and worn and you want to restore it? Or are you looking for how to shine up some granite that isn't polished? Or just some general advice on keeping it clean? Or....?? :)

I should have stated that the granite is four years old and it is in great shape. We have a small jar of a polish that the installers gave us, but it is almost gone. The granite is in the kitchen including the buffet table, so it gets wiped down everyday with glass cleaner and polished only about once or twice a year. I would like to know if I am harming the granite by using Windex?

I can't believe that with all of the experts on this forum nobody could reply to my question about caring for granite and keeping it glossy.I would appreciate an opinion as to what product is the best to use. Granite is 5 years old. THANKS!

Hi DingoMaster, Welcome! :)
First thing it would be nice of you to share a first name! :shades:
Second, it would be nice for you to cool your jets! I was out of town when your original post was made. One of the other moderators must have overlooked your post, as there were replies posted, and he could have assumed that this thread was taken care of. Eventually your post will be buried by new posts.
We all have full time jobs, and some of us run our own businesses. We do not get paid to spend our time giving FREE advice. If you care to pay a fee (as some immediate responding sites require), it will surely get someones immediate attention. Now you know which of my buttons not to push! :D
In the future, if no one responds to a question, please feel free to bump your thread back to the top. I hope this will give you a better understanding as to how our site operates.
In reqards to the questions about maintaining your granite. It sounds like the current form of maintenance you are giving it is working. Since I don't know what kind of granite you have, I will make the following recommendations.
Do a simple test of applying some water to the top, and allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes. Wipe away the water. If the stone darkened, it needs to be sealed. If not, it doesn't.
For daily maintenance I suggest the use of a tile & stone specific neutral pH cleaner. Unless your granite is not a true granite (100% igneous stone), and it came from the fabricator polished, it will not need any additional waxes or polishes to maintain its sheen.
If it has any calcite present, parts of the surface could become etched with acidic product. Some polishes would be able to hide this. The other way to correct this would be to hire a restoration stone specialist.
Hope this helps, and thank you for your patience! ;)
