Anyone got a good bet on how to remove pencil marks off stone that's been sealed over? This seems a rather elementary question...but I 've never had this much trouble getting it out. It's honed Absolute that is sealed. Tried all the obvious stuff like erasures, elbow grease ect.
Thanks in advance

Which sealer did you use, Trask? You might have to strip it first and then scrub it with sanded Charcoal grout? Or rub the whole tile with graphite and re-seal it, but I don't think that's really an option. :D
Best of luck,

It's Miracle seal&enhance :goodluck: ...I am gonna try stripping today and possibly a liquid poultice. I can't imagine it wont come out of granite, but my it's one of my most expirenced guys and he's really scratching his head so it worries me.

One solution might be a fine grit sand paper Trask...that has worked for me in the past. Comet and a suitable scouring pad might work. It takes skid marks out of toilets. If push comes to shove, I use a 4 1/2" grinder with 1k-5k diamond pads which I slow down with a router speed control clipped to my belt. If all that fails, set a coffe maker or recliner on top of it. :goodluck:

I like the recliner idea :D I'll tell the customer recliners on the kitchen counter are "all the rage in Europe"..it's part of that extended luxury living concept. :tup2:
I think I'll try a mild abrasive. I'm just hesitant to touch the surface of stone because you can really chase your tail with the wrong light conditions and the right picky customer. Pretty hard to duplicate a radial arm finish in the field. At least honed is forgiving.

I can hardly get pencil off porcelain..try some barkeepers friend, i think it's a combo of oxalic acid and abrasives.

I've had good look using Cameo polish for porcelain or stainless steel. They sell it in most grocery stores around here.

Trask,
Barkeeper's Friend is on the shelf at the grocery store, right next to the Comet clenser.

I became enamoured with girl on a school bus back in the late sixties. We were both on a ranch 32 milles north of Dalhart, Texas. As my feelings for her grew, I said something civil , I thought, to her one day on the bus ride home and she turned around and stabbed me in the left knee with a pencil. I don't remember what I said but I still have that pencil mark in my left knee. Graphite is very tenacious.
So are we.
We've been married now for 34 years.
I guess my point is that all pencil marks are not bad...
