My limited typing time and ability just got more limited. Fell off a ladder over the garage gable hanging a 4' Christmas Wreath for my lovely wife and fractured my shoulder when I hit the concrete. So I will be one handed for awhile. Can move the mouse pretty good but typing is a challenge. So I will be around but quiet.........unless John goes off the deep end.

Merry Christmas

Oh geez, don' t even mention the Tile Ranger. That unsavory character might show up again.

Dave,

I've always suspected you type with only one finger, anyway. Bending one wing shouldn't slow you down all that much. :D

I am sorry to hear that. You ain't getting any younger. Better send the wife up the ladder next time. :D

Yup, got the wreath up, sent my wife up the ladder, I make a better anchor any way. Good thing we got it up too cause after it swelled up later I couldn't move and my wife finally convinced me to go to the hospital. Thanks everyone, more Vicaden please.

Fear not, I will be happy to fill in for Mr. Gobis if necessary, although I sincerely regret the need and wish him a speedy recovery.

One of my good friends was working on the roof of one of his spec homes when he caught a loose piece of tar paper and slid all the way to the bottom of the roof. He then took the two story plunge to the ground.

Both arms were fractured in multiple places. Both arms were cast with supports holding them away from his body for over a month.

The question of bathroom visits crossed my mind and I had to ask him. He told me he had to remind his wife of the wedding vows of "in sickness and in health" on an almost daily basis. (That and he promised her a new car of her choosing when he was healed.)

She got her new car and then she bought him a new safety harness. :D

That type of fall is exactly what got me into the flooring business years ago!!!:) I find it really difficult to fall off of a floor.

Dave,

The other thing you need to do is click the "show signature" box near the bottom of the reply form. That will display your link to the school.

your SHOULDER????

Dang, a forearm would be bad enough, but a shoulder, that could take a while to heal up and hair over...

sorry for ya Dave. does this mean the cost of the classes is cut by 50%?

Bud, once when I was in college i drank so much ..anyway I think you can fall off the floor, at lt felt like that's what happened.

Dave, pop a pill for me..sorry to hear of your setback. I'll bet if you had been wearing a helmet that fall ..uh , nevermind. Take care and happy holidays.

In my wisdom, I avoided most of the costs associated with higher education. Unfortunately, I avoided much of the education, too.

Yeah, and then I feel I have the right to convince my daughter that she needs to spend the money to do that... go figure. Oh well, at least she's already fallen off the floor and scraped herself up, so I don't have to worry over that again ;)

I fell backwards from a second floor stairwell access that hadn't seen any stairs as yet.

It was the old typical put an extension ladder in the hole and up you go. The damned ladder began to walk. I thought I could jump clear but when I did, the ladder top was just clearing the second floor opening on its way down so my thrust kicked the ladder away from me and turned me 90 degrees. They say I bonce about eighteen inches and hit a second time.

The worst ambulance ride I have ever had, damn was that road bumpy, then that sucker would sway every time we changed lanes on the Interstate I thought I was going to roll off the cot. The attendants kept talking to me to maintain my consciousness but I just wanted them to shut up for God's sake, couldn't they see I had a headache.

Never fallen off a floor though.

lost my ring finger because... wait a minute.... aren't we getting off topic????

Oh, maybe not, this one's entitled OOPS.

So we're tradin' war stories?

Sharing scars?

How quaint.

the ring finger exploded while I had a kid (he was the freshman QB for Notre Dame) working with me for the summer. We were setting concrete forms with a 12# hammer and 2x2 stakes. He missed the stake.

He passed out, I went to the ER. Fortunately, there was a plastic surgeon on duty and he saved the finger, damndest thing... those finger prints grew right back.

Just a few years ago I shot myself in the stomach with a nail gun.... lotsa fun, but we'll save that story for Mardi Gras or sumthin'... ;)

Hey, I still got all ten fingers :D Uhhh, wait... yep, they're all there!!

In the tummy Sonny? I want more.

I was on a job where a framer nailed his foot into the plywood floor.
I did a job for an emergency eye surgeon. This guy was the king of make ya cringe stories. He told us one about a tuna hook in the eye of a fisherman...far off shore..in a bad storm. Couldn't get help for 24 hrs. The crew had to literally tie the guy to the floor. Think that guy did some promisin in his head for the duration of the boat ride?.."oh Lord I promise..if you'll just get this fish hook out of my eye.."

Dave just take heart in how lucky you are to only have been slightly wounded..you could have fallen into a barrel of fishing lures and acid or something .

Sorry to hear about your spill Dave.

Last night I was leaving my father's tile store and slipped on the ice beside my truck in the parking lot.I did a very cartoonish dance to keep from falling but didn't work.Fell backwards.First thing most people do in that situation is look around to see that no one saw the fall. And if they did, pretend you don't see them. :)

Almost broke my little hip flask :D

I know it hurts!

About 2 years ago, on January 2, I decided to go onto the roof to shovel off about 3 feet of snow. Everything went fine until I started down the extension ladder. As soon as I stepped onto it the bottom flew out. I landed on my back before the ladder did. When It hit I got a hairline break in my arm. Seems the snow I'd shovled off had dislodged the footing. At least it (the snow) was softer than the driveway!

I hope you feel better soon! Don't hesitate to take the pain pills!

Pain Pills???

Sorry Dave, you sit real quiet and don't laugh too hard, it'll be OK.

It keeps getting better. I was walking a board on the rafters of the office to get a new top secret foam product out for a veiw by approved parties. Stepped on a spot where the board was not quite laying right and started heading through the drywall ceiling. Guess which arm I used to grab a beam and stop myself from going.............damn that hurts, almost as much as the first time. Going to sit in my chair and give instructions for a few weeks. Guess I was in denial but there ain't no doubt about it now! Stupid, stupid, stupid ! And, we had an ice storm last night. I would wear cleats if I could bend over and tie my shoes!

Hey Dave

Sorry to hear about your injury. At a time like this we should be thinking about your bike. You don't want it to sit for 6-9 months without being ridden. I'll be glad to keep it for you and ride it a few times a week to keep the moving parts lubricated.

Should I come to SC or WI to pick it up?

Cami A
12-05-2002, 09:21 AM
Rob, you're such a considerate guy.... ;););)

Dave, did your wife just shake her head, or did she say "I told you to be careful"?

Sonnie Layne
12-05-2002, 11:19 AM
good one Rob!!

I'd like to know if he "falls" for it. ;)

Dave Gobis
12-05-2002, 12:45 PM
She is in WI, I'm in SC. In answer to the bike, the one in WI has been on the charger since August, rode the one down here about 3 weeks ago. Does need a "charge" ride.

A guy who can't walk on a board without hurting himself ought not to be messing with motorcycles. :shades:

cx
12-05-2002, 08:23 PM
Yeah, hell, I usta ride my Bultaco up a 2x6 into the bed of my pickup alla time. Man aughta be able to walk on a board afore he's allowed to ride a motorcicle. :)

By the way, Dave, don't let RobZ ride your bike. They pewt salt and other bad shit onna roads up where he lives. Bad for the bike. Better to send it to San Antonio. Besides, Z is too big for only two wheels. :D

Rob Z
12-05-2002, 10:39 PM
Kelly, you keep your mouth shut...whose side are you on, anyway?

I gotta nice garage to keep Dave's bike nice and dry.

Any bike that can carry Gobis can carry me.

cx
12-05-2002, 10:51 PM
Who cares if you got a ga-rage, Z, you ain't gonna ride the bike inna damn ga-rage, you're gonna ride it outside onna street with slush and salt and mud all winter. Dave don't want that, do you Dave?

I didn't know Dave was that big. You makin' that up ain't ya? :D
