I installed and grouted Brazil green slate on a mud room floor and let the homeowner use this room before it was sealed. My only condition was that she not let it get stained, ie no wet feet (human or ather animal).
Well animals obviously don't listen very well and would rather mark the area with thier own scent. Yes it was an accident, old dog must have piddled on her feet before walking on new unsealed slate.

I used Stonetec's oil stain remover (kind of like a gel paste with cleaner). It left a dark ring. I then mixed a poultice with water and I am waiting to see if this will remove the ring. Alkaline cleaner worked a little but didn't lift the stain.

Anyone have any other ideas for this type of slate?

Hi Peter :)

How long did you let the poultice dry? Was the stain removed? Could you post a picture? :shades:

poultice dried to a hard clay and there is still two dark rings on one tile only, it seemed to have worked on the other stains. I'm hoping that it's just deep set moisture and it will dry in a few days. Tomorrow I'm putting the enhancer to it, all except for that one tile.

Hi Peter :)

More than likely that's the case. Don't enhance this tile until it's resolved. Hopefully the dog will stay off. Is it possible that this particular stain was caused by something else? :shades:

Have you tried an acetone poultice?

Or, reapplied the Stone Tech Poultice?

It's not uncommon the need to reapply poultices for deep set stains.

Day 1- starts with dog stain

Day 2- alkaline cleaner/ stain a little better

Day 3- Stonetech oil stain remover/ same stain, plus wet ring

Day 4- inert stone poultice mixed with water/ same stain plus bigger wet ring

Day 5- Today- Stonetech Enhancer Pro on all but one tile/ bigger ring looks to be fading, told the homeowner to notice any change and will check back in a few days.

Hi Peter :)

You're definitely on track. Just need to let the moisture evaporate (as you proposed), to find out if it's gone or not.
