I received a letter from the city today that my work trailer is considered "storage" and they want me to remove it from my property!. It's a next to new 6by10 black cargo trailer that's prettier than some of the vehicles parked around here, now what?.

Axe'em why, if it's storage, the state requires you to pay road-use fees on it, presuming it's licensed as it would need to be in my state.

Prolly the county, and maybe even the city get a cut on the road-use stuff, too.

Paint stuff all over it and begin referring to it as ART. It tougher on local gummints' to be seen as a-trying' to regulate and manipulate art.

Hell.... this could even lead to a new career that pays better than tiling :---)

Paint?!?!? Nah. I think you should set some wicked mosaics all over the sides!

Not sure how that would hold up once you started driving around though. Not sure how to calculate deflection on that either. Maybe BBCamp could clue us in! :clap2:

Maybe I should replace it with a 1976 chevy one ton van and paint it hot pink with bright yellow rims with nice three inch white wall tires and I'm just the type to do such a thing and I mean it. See you on the news...

Pat,
I think CX has the right course here. They are obviously responding to a complaint from a neighbor. Apply equal or greater force in the opposite direction and see if they don't drop the "complaint". If they argue that it's still storage, though you pay to license it as a vehicle, then document every other vehicle in your neighborhood with stuff piled in the back seat and demand equal enforcement. :D

Or you can be like me and get a small enough trailer to fit in my garage.Where's my stoop shouldered head bent over smiley? :yeah:

Or move it every once in a while.

Or is the fact that its on blocks and has spider webs and bird's nest on it, might have given the building inspector a clue.

I was gonna ask the same thing. Do you move it every so often?

The best thing to do is leave it on the job sites. If you are staying busy, then it shouldn't be a problem. It it stays at home all the time, then maybe it is just storage.:)

Ditto what CX and Shaughnn said...

It's so ridiculous, I'd be at the town office first thing in the morning telling 'em to stick it...

The city I just moved from, had a ban on ANYTHING will a commercial logo on it. They really didnt enforce it,but if your neighbors complained then they could make you park it outside of the city.

That's why I love living in Wisconsin, you can leave what ever you want in your driveway or yard without anyone saying anything. If you don't have one junker on your property you're an outcast. :lol1:

Out here in the country you can pretty much park anything you want. Tractor, truck, trailer, you name it. My neighbors home is mobil, but the 14 cars in their driveway are not. I think they might be rednecks. :yeah:
