Here is a letter I sent to the "Ceramic Tile Distributers Association" :

I've only one thing to say: "MORE MUD TRIM, MORE MUD TRIM, MORE MUD TRIM, MORE MUD TRIM... We mud setters WANT MORE MUD TRIM MANUFACTURED! PLEASE! A-106, A-4200, A-4402, A-3602, A-151 (I wish), A-4157, A-4225, A-7250... (in my dreams). Why is it all the tile setters of the 1950's got all the good stuff and were stuck with surface bullnose trim.. we're being gypt! It's a bone yard out there! Thank you.

I can still get mud caps (A-4200) and quarter-round (A-106), but a lot of the distrubutors have quit carrying AM-4200 (inside bullnose corners), and it's been ages since I've been able to get any AKs (AK-106 is/was an inside corner for quarter-round). Don't know whether they still make AU-106, and some of the rest of the stuff you listed I'm not familiar with. ;)

I wanted to stick a photo in with this reply, but I don't know how. Yes, I can still get, (at a very limited quantity, and Florida Tile has dumped mostly all of their A-106's): A-106, A-4200, A-4402, and verrrry little quantity of A-3602. Here is what got the ax: A-4157 Axed around the mid to late 1970's. This was a fluted jamb cap. Was great for full Jamb stall showers, BEUTIFUL! A-4225, Sink rail cap, axed sometime in the 1960's, beutiful drain board( old name for kitchen countertop, this is when they were REAL drain boards because... THE SINKS WERE TILED IN!! NO SELF RIMMING SINKS! Next on the chopping block: A-4226, speed Cap. Great sink rail, Axed sometime around 1978. Next A-151, Axed around 1986 or 1987.. Great cove! It was about 1 1/2" wide and 6" long. Looked cool on countertops from deck to splash transistion. Next, A-7250.. ehhh...not a big loss, I'll take the A-4157 anyday to wrap a full jamb shower.. anyway, axed around the early 1990's. Ahh.. now here is a classy look.. ABL or ABR-1440, corner transistion when using A4402 trim.. nice look and better looking I might add than a simple AK... R.I.P. around the late 1960's Oh.. here's one, how about a ABL-ABR 1441? That, I think was axed not that long ago.. sometime in the early 1990's. Now here is a trim I wish we still had: A-1662 and all of it's integral parts. This was like an A-3602 cut down to 3 3/4" Great for mud set base to stagger the joints..cool look..Then you have your surface bullnose that some of it has gone the wayside.. I say good ridence.. Here was a cool piece, mainly used in shower curbs, jambs etc.. It was called an A-7610. Think of a double A-3602 and that's an A-7610. But, If I was given the opportunity of resurecting just one trim shape, it would have to be the A-4157.

I remember a couple of those trims (not all) The sink rail can still be had on certain limited imported tiles. These i have used in the last 3-4 years.(shop still has a couple boards with them) Maybe discontinued ,i am not sure though)

Maybe there is your niche.Start mfg trims, cool trims so the rest of us can have all the fun you had :)

That's just it... some of those trims were gone by 1983 when I got into the trade...major bummer..John Bridge has been in the trade since 1972, he remembers most of the stuff I talking about. He said in his last thread that he didn't remember the name but if he saw it, he would remember, he's probably installed all of the stuff I was talking about, that was the reason I wanted to post a picture of trims from 1958 with my last reply to illustrate what I was talking about.

John, to attach an image to your reply, look near the bottom of the reply form. You will see a section for "Attach file", with a browse button. Click the button and choose your file. If it's not bigger that 30K, it should be visible in your reply after you post. :)

CX, wah happen. Did you get disconnected during the upload?

Dunno.

Couldn't make it work. Didn't think I posted it. I'll try again later. Gotta go back to work.

CX, on a dialup connection, it could take a while after you hit "submit", because the picture has to upload to the site. Uploads are often slower than downloads :(
