At last, the long-awaited picture of Todd's laundry room backsplash. ;)
I tried to enlarge the pic, but it further distorted it.

Nice design Todd but I'm afraid for me that one would be a 12 pack'er.:)

I think you did it when you shrunk the photo. My scanner is cheap, too, but it doesn't do that.

Very nice, Todd. :D
Can't you tell the HO to 86 that wood thingie? It distracts from the beauty of your work. ;););)
Cami, Isn't that just a little harsh ?

I agreed with Cami, The classy art deco tile should stand on it's own. Ditch the victorian-look wood trim. :p :p

I cant, its a valance with a light behind it. And I am the HO lol
Cami, remember way back when i first started in here i was looking for ideas for a laundry room. She wanted trees if you recall. You were adament that i put a picture in here.this is what she ended up with. The valance matches a valance in our kitchen upstairs. That will be the next splash i do in this house(of course i am about 3 months behind in my schedule so i think we are lookin at march 2009 .
Thanks all for the Positive comments.Always makes a person feel good(i dont get any attaboys on commercial quarry jobs,Just a paycheck :) )
And yes i like geometrics (just not herringbones ewwwwwwwwwww)

Todd,
why don't you tile the valance ( lose the curliques ). Solid black would really make that great work stand out!

I dont want to make it look too good,I'll have to tile the whole basement then.(just what i want to do after tileing a school or church during the day :)
As it is i still have a sauna floor to do.Full pan mudfloat and the concrete is so bad the preslope is already done :D

Todd, yaa...I like that "preslope" word, never though to use that in my old house. I think I've got it in all my bathrooms that I want to tile. Gotta have a few beers ;) and then lay the floor!

Actually folks remember that the valance is made of Cedar. The one wall is tiled but the reat of the basement is all cedar T&G .while you cant see the rest of the area,The valance works well with the overall rooms appearance(and hey it took me at least 10 minutes to make it) :)

Todd,
Fill in your username again. I had to do it a couple times to get it to stick.

Since you're the Ho, Todd, consider painting the wooden valence so it doesn't compete with the great tile design. Personally, I'd go with a high gloss Chinese Red but maybe black would be less dramatic.
In any case, it sure looks great!

I'm with ya, Todd... I've never cleaned a Herring and found bones anywhere near what they call them. 'Sides it's boooring. I like the cuts in your pic. A third colour would be cool with that layout I think. I'm savin' that pic to my hard drive. Wait.... don't we have a thing goin' here that concerns layouts/designs with tile? Maybe we could add that one or start such a forum.
Anyway, nice job. very intuitive.

Actually sonnie, Its really hard to tell in the picture but it has three colors.Black- Hunter green -and light pewter. The field tile is all white.
The picture doesnt do the colors justice, but at least the pattern stands out. I'll tell ya what, you send me some of that thar spice and i'll shoot you off a real live photo for your idea file :)
