As a recent poster at John Bridge I was concerned with the news that you'll got all that rain and more predicted. What are the jobsites/ developments like? Can anybody get to work?

I know this post is not tile related, but life goes on. How do you keep up with schedules and closings?

Kind of a human interest?business question.

Stay dry.

I'll move you to the Mud Box, Chuck. It's where we post alla non-tile stuff. :)

I was in Houston on Monday delivering that fountain. Can attest to the fact that it was a little more humid than usual down there.

As is typical here, it rains heavier in different parts of town. Got about five inches where I live. I'm in the northwest "quadrant." The southeast gets the worst of the run off, plus they got ten to twelve inches down that way. That's where a lot of the flooding is.

Patti flew in from New York yesterday afternoon. An hour before they landed the airport (Bush) got an inch-and-a-half of intense rain, wrecking visibility. The pilot came on and told the passengers they were heading to our other airport (Hobby) to re-fuel so they could roam around until Bush cleared up. This all took place while I was on my way to Bush to pick her up. Fortunately, by the time they actually approached Hoston the rain had subsided and they were able to land on schedule. Problem then was there were no available gates, and they had to wait on the tarmac about 20 minutes. Johnny circled the terminal 7 times, as there was no place to park. :)

I sure hope those unfortunate people that lost their homes and business get the same aid that Katrina "victims" are getting. The media did not cover this, at least in Georgia, the way it should. A couple of years ago, we had 5 inches of rain and people who bought new homes across the river in eastern Alabama got flooded. The county is very lax about building anywhere and these home were built in the fifty year flood plain.

People in the Greater Houston area are in our thoughts.

This last storm was a nothing event by comparison to some of the other downpours we've sustained. There was actually very little flooding.

Our problem isn't going to be solved in the short term. It stems from major increases in construction during the past decade or so -- too much concrete sealing off the soil that might otherwise absorb some of the rainfall. The land is flat to begin with, with very limited drainage. Fortunately, I'm on the higher ground to the west. :)
