Hi There, My name is Chris..

I am about to start my grouting of the my shower. I am reading in a lot of resources that you should never grout the expension joint areas such as where the floor meets the wall. Most places are syaing to just use Caulk there. MY original intention was to first grout these areas and then apply a layer of caullk on top of that after the grout had cured.

What is the right method in these areas?

Thanks.

You don't want grout in any joint you intend to caulk. Forcing the caulk into the joint helps lock it in place. Do it right now and save headaches down the road.

Chris, Any change of Plane gets caulked.
You can do it before you grout so long as you let the caulking cure thoroughly before grouting(sometimes this is easier for the DIY er)
Detail EJ171-05 in the TCA handbook is where you can find the specifications for application...............suffice it to say that EVERY change of plane gets caulked, No Exceptions!!
Do that and your good to go!! :)
