Now I've gone and done it. It looks so simple. Just go down to the local rental yard, get a airless sprayer and go to town, man.

Well, we got ready (I thought, ya right)put the can under the suction device, fired her up and went outside and sprayed the water/thinner into a box, didn't want to mess up the new grass. Don't get excited Bud, It was on the lawn.

Got paint coming through, and the pump stopped and so did the paint. Checked the power, got power. Pulled the 4 screws to the switch wiring and fuse. By passed the switch, still no power. Must be the fuse, Sunday 4:10 PM, off to Radio Shack for a new fuse. Believe it or not they had them.

Got back to the house and put the new fuse in and plugged it in, no go.

found a little switch/lever thingy and turned it. Bad Idea, relief valve. Didn't know it had one, now my washer machine is partially coated with Zinsser's B I N primer/stain barrier.

But I heard the motor run when the pressure was being relieved. Try the sprayer handle/trigger, nothing. Figure out how to remove the nozzle. Plugged.

Figure out how to clean out nozzle, now the sprayer works again. Hey, we are off and running.

This is great, it's working like a top. Uh, Oh!! Out of paint. So far I've done about 10 square feet and gone through a gallon of primer at $18.00.

Open a new gallon, fire up the sprayer, nozzle is clogged.

It's gets worse and uglier.

Bottom line, I just got home about a hour ago from rolling the ceiling and I'm about half way done.

By the way, send Sonnie over would you, I gotta figure out away to get the the primer, that also happens to be shellack, out of my hair.

Any Barbers out there?

Art, you in for it now! Sonnie gonna be all over you like black onna bowling ball.

First thing he's affixin' to axe you is how come you didn't strain that can of paint afore you tried to suck it into that airless. Then he gonna get serious.

Maybe you can erase your confession before it's too late.

Thats funny, Ah I mean no its not it must have sucked.
The better sprayers have less trouble some of the cheaper ones are a real mess and a pain.

Rental yard airless sprayers should be against the law. Most are a diaphragm type pump (if you can call it a pump)and those things can be very delicate and a pain in the ass. The paint must be strained and also the suction should have another strainer on it. Some have a reversible spray valve that clears a clogged spray tip because the tips clog constantly but most don't offer this feature. There is also usually a filter in the handle cartridge that requires regular attention, these filters are sized and color coded so as to allow or restrict the amount of product that will flow. If these things aren't changed after every job an unwary user doesn't stand a chance from the git-go.

Ten square feet to the gallon is a little short (by about 250 ft2)

A big mistake is to walk off and leave the unit loaded with product for even a short time, that really bungs up the works.

If pampered with tender loving care these things do a good job but damn they are touchy.

All I got is two questions: Did you get that 1200 feet of tile laid Saturday morning; and where the hell is your picture? [Patti, you know I hate painting and don't know anything about it, but I could have told him to clean the spray head.]

Wait a minute. What are you doin' sprayin' in the house you're livin' in?

Hey, what does a professional know that I don't?

Silly question, I think we could fill the whole of the "John Bridge forum".

I figured out how to use the roller, and I can even thread the extension handle on with out stripping the threads. I think I have finally found my calling?

By god John, you did lock me out. It took 2 times with the password to get this posted.

I think "mudmeister/moderators" have too much authority, and I think we should do something about it.

I know, when we get down to Katy, for the fall, we can vote on how we will handle situations like this in the future.

By the way John, would you make sure you let Patti know that I like the dark meat at Thanksgiving, and Honey Baked Hams, for Christmas. You wouldn't mind if our family showed up for Christmas would ya? We kinda like to open presents with them.

Why don't you have Windows remember your password like the rest of us do?

Art, Art, Art....

Methanol. If you don't understand that, Vodka, Everclear.

Isopropanol (rubbing alcohol) in a pinch, tho' it works more slowly. Printer's iso is great, but hard to come by.

Soon enough there'll be a law against having that in your truck, too.
