granite sealer

I'm going to have some granite installed in my bathroom and wet bar. The installer says they initially put a mild type of stone protection, and that I need to get some sealer to put on 24 hrs later. Should I tell them not to put anything on the stone, so the sealer can fully penetrate? The saleslady did not know what exactly they use. She recommended I go to home depot and get 511 Impregnator. Is that any good? I used ProSolv (oil based) from lowes on my travertine. Can I use that on the granite?

Hi Spotfin,

Your fabricator should provide a well impregnated (sealed) piece of stone, I do suggest that you find out their impregnator for future use as well.

Yes, that's a very good sealer for your counter top in a food service area,be sure to let it soak in for a few minutes, and put more on if it soaks in,but don't let it dry on the surface, or puddle.I agree they should seal it, and i don't know what a slight sealing would consist of.My guess is it doesn't have any sealer on it. :bow:

A light sealing is the scrub in the fab shop wiping it on and wiping it off. No dwell time, no second application, just quick and easy. That's what most of 'em do around my parts I know that.
