Help! My house is being tiled with a very nice Italian glazed porcelain tile. The tile guys moved my furniture back into the bedroom and left black scratches that look like pencil marks when they slid the dressers back to the wall. (I thought porcelain didn't scratch!) Can these be cleaned off or should I insist they replace the danaged tile? Thanks for your advice!

Hi Jeanne, we need to narrow this down a bit more so bear with me.

Are there metal pads under the dresser''s legs that caused these marks or is it all wood under there. Is the pocelain tile glazed? Then finally, are you sure the tile is actually scratched (indented) or is there only a surface mark left behind?

:)

Don't know if there are metal tabs on the legs - I think they're wood. They are not really dented - surface marks only. I used viniger on them last night and some of it came off, but some of it won't budge. The tile guy claims it'll come off, but no luck so far. Suggestions?

Don't get this on the grout now - try a cotton ball with some finger nail polish remover. Then come back here with the outcome. ;)

Or acetone as a substitue if you have some but I'm betting the nail polish remover (which is acetone based) will work. If not, we can try something else.

Thank you Mike, that worked!

One more question - I can't handle getting down on my knees to seal the grout with 511 nor can I afford to have the pro do it. Lowes carries a product called "Tile Guard One Step Grout Sealer" a spray on with 15 year protection. What do you think of this?

Thanks again for your help!
