I've recently moved and the house still has the original tile floors, the colours are mostly white, black, dark red, dark green. One of the rooms has black and white hexagonal tiles which are really discoloured - what can I use to clean without risking damaging them? And more generally I was wondering whether I should try waxing them to offer a bit more protection?
Thanks!
Helen

Hi Helen,

I would love to see pics of your floor.

You may have porcelain or you may have marble due to your location (Italy)

Repetitive gentle cleanings with a diluted neutral stone cleaner would be a suggested course of action. Please respect your 18th century installation and do not apply a wax. A natural stone impregnator or color enhancing impregnator may serve well as protection.

Please consult with your local natural stone conservator.
