Hi, Am new, great to find this place! Do mostly mosaic with ceramic and glass but am now working with my own kitchen counter. Was going to cast it in concrete...too much work decided to do it in large travertine pieces. I also installed strips of it on the edges. Want to sand them a bit rounded and then seal it all. Any suggestions on the best sealers. Is waxing like concrete alright? If I wanted to darken them a little , can I stain them? Thanks for any help.

Good morning Meig. Glad to have you on board. :)
I'm going to move you over to the Cleaning, Restoration and Sealing side of the house because that's where the stone guru's hang out. They'll give you some good advice.
I'll leave a marker here so you can find your thread.

Hi Meig,
Going with a low luster (honed) is the way to go with a travertine in a kitchen environment. Impregnators off stain resistance, enhancers darken stone and neural stone cleaners are the best thing to clean your stone.
Visit the TYW link above for additional information.

Hi Meig, Welcome! :)
What Michaels trying to say is:
1. Don't wax, stay with a natural stone impregnator. Our online stone carries Stone Tech products, which is highly regarded in the stone industry.
2. Don't stain, stick with a natural stone enhancer. If you use a enhancer, you won't need to seal, as the enhancer darkens, as well as seals.
Be sure to TEST first as various sealers and enhancers perform differently on different stones.

And remember too that no sealer on this planet will prevent acid etches. The fact that the stone is honed will hide acid damage to some extent and that is why the dull finish is recommended.
