Hi Mike :)

That's quite a piece of work!

Could you share with us a step by step procedure you used? :shades:

You can leave the last step off of taking a picture of the light. :D Oh, that's the reflection!

Hi John,

The first step that I performed was a 100 grit diamond abrasive, this was sufficent to remove the scratch and chemical negetive stimuli. I followed this up by a 200 grit to remove the scratch pattern generated by the 100 grit.
After the 200 grit was complete I went to 400 grit, then an 800 grit.
The powder polishing popped that final luster, then after that I neutralized the stone with a neutral stone cleaner.

After removing the protective plastic sheeting and blue tape I reattached the faucet handles. I dried the stone with a heat gun and followed up with a natural stone impregnator.

Michael,

Nice work.
Ithink you ought to allow that the powder was a polishing powder and not a honing powder. Some don't know the difference.

2 Why apply an impregnating sealer? Was it showing signs of absorption?

Hi Steven,

Granted a polished Crema Marfil does not show the obvious indicators of impregnator requirement, however I thought that 5% of the mineral structures (micro fissures and fill) would benefit from an impregnation.

Hmm.....

Thanks.

I would think that once you have it as nice as you do, then you are just wiping it on then wiping it off.

:D

In any case, restoration or repolishing your vanity is a many cheaper and faster then exchanging it, especially if you have a custom-made vanity top.
