I bought some Miracle SuperSeal (http://www.miraclesealants.com/depot/sr_superseal.html) from Home Depot. I'm wondering if I should do 2 coats? The first coat went on really well and didn't soak up too much, which to me means the grout is not incredibly porous (this is a new install). The reason I mention this is because the directions state that "For the most porous surfaces, a second application should be applied...". Is grout considered most porous? I let most areas soak past the give time, especially the floor.

A side note... I was pouring out some of the sealer and I noticed this piece of plastic come out into my container. After pulling out the piece of plastic, I realized what it was... it was an RFID security tag. You know, the kind that HD sticks on everything they don't want walking out the door. I couldn't believe it. At close to $40/quart, I can see why they'd do this. A little while later, another piece came out. I hope the solvent in this stuff didn't leach some impurities out of the plastic and into the sealer.

You could either do a water bead test, or go ahead and apply some and see if it soaks in.

I was up last night thinking about it. I'm going to go down tonight and do the water test and see what happens. The place is an hour away so it's a hassle to go back, but I guess it's worth it to double check.

I just got back from checking the grout.

The sealer did a great job of sealing the grout. I sprayed a light mist on the wall..water would not penetrate. It actually ran down the wall!

The floor was just as good. I left a couple of medium size droplets on the surface and no water penetration. It beaded on the surface.

So I decided not to reseal since it looked like the first coat was good enough. Good thing, I drove all the way down there only to forget my mask...doh.

Anyway, thanks again.
