I think it was in the 50's, maybe 60's all I have is two lines (big help, eh?)

Here's the two lines:

"Meanwhile, back in the jungle" (jungle'ese music starts)

"Meanwhile, back in the states (or stateside) (big band'ese music starts)

I can't remember anything else about the song, but I liked it. :) It was just a silly pop song, and probably won't be recorded in the annels (ouch) of music, but it had a fun sound and . . . it's kinda driving me nuts not being able to remember anymore of it.

The wife is no help whatsoever . . .

Can anybody name the tune, or at least add a few more lines?

(and yes, it was the 3 word story that made me think of it  )

Mark --

I had no idea what you were talking about, but Google sure did.

"Stranded in the Jungle" by The Cadets

I crashed in the jungle
While tryin' to keep a date
With my little girl
Who was back in the states
I was stranded in the jungle
Afraid and alone
Tryin' to figure a way
To get a message back home
But how was I to know
That the wreckage of my plane
Had been picked up and spotted
And my girl in lovers lane
And meanwhile, back in the states

Baby, baby, let's make romance
You know your old time lover hasn't got a chance
He's stranded in the jungle flat as he can be
So come on pretty baby just you and me
Meanwhile back in the jungle

The boys in the jungle had me on the run
When something heavy hit me like an atomic bomb
When I woke up and my head started to clear
I had a strange feelin' I was with cookin' gear
I smelled something cookin' and I looked to see
That's when I found out they was a cookin' me
Great Cuckoo let me outta her
Meanwhile back in the states

Baby, baby, let's make romance
You know your old time lover hasn't got a chance
He's stranded in the jungle flat as he can be
So come on pretty baby just you and me
Meanwhile back in the jungle

I jumped outta the pot and finally got away
Frantic and worried about what my baby would say
So I jumped in the ocean and started to swim
But my chance of survival was gettin' mighty slim
So I thumbed down a whale who was headin' my way
And I reached the states in 'bout a half a day
And when I got to lovers lane I was almost dead
When my soul was gone, here's what I said

Baby, baby, your man is no good
Baby, baby, he should've understood
You can trust me as long as can be
So come back pretty baby where you used to be
'Cause I love you, 'cause I love you
'Cause I love you, 'cause I love you
'Cause I love you

GG, kewl site!

I didn't even think of 'googlin' because I only had two lines to go on.

I may have to pick up the song, because it's been in my head the last few days and is driving me nuts. :)

Remember it well. '56 is fairly recent. ;)

Mark,
Tune in KFRC on the AM dial and you'll hear it every once in a while. You can even request it. Another which I liked hearing on that station went something like, "Pour me another shot of my baby's love". I think it was the Mavericks, but I'm not certain. Any takers? :D

Hey Pie-rate,

I'll try to find it. I say try because the digital LCD display in my pick-up has been broken for the past 6-8 years, so I have to hunt around blind to find stuff. :)

I figure I'll replace it when the noise stops coming out, but it works, and I'm used to it now. :D
