Son and I are heading to Bob's Lake, near Westport, Ontario next weekend for our annual summer fishing trip. Can't wait. We will be fishing for walleye, pike and bass. Wondering if anyone has fished this lake, or near it. This is about 1 hour north of Kingston, and about 1-1.5 hours southwest of Ottawa.
Pics will be posted upon return! :)

Hi Will, I've done a few houses on that lake. I'm at Devil lake right now in Westport. Its only a 5000/sf cottage, kinda small. Lots of money and work up that way.
About the fishing.............I have no idea.........ha :)

Randy L, cool that you are in the area! What is the weather supposed to be like later this week? weather.ca says mid 20s and clouds, but no rain. Does this agree with the local weather on TV/radio?

Just got back. Had a great time fishing for the weekend with my 11 yr old son. Caught innumerable bluegill, sunfish and rock bass, and some pretty nice smallmouth bass (all released). This one is in the 3-4 lb. range, about 20". The picture doesn't do it justice, trust me! ;) I caught it on a 5' rod with 4 lb. line, which made things a little interesting. My expert fishing partner did a great netting job. 1/8 oz. jig with a 3" pumpkinseed tube.
The second picture is of one mess of panfish we brought home. Another mess the same size was caught the day before. Two thumbs up for Nordlaw's Lodge, near Westport, ON. http://www.nordlawlodge.com/ Great food, friendly service and comfortable accomodations. Fishing was excellent as well!
p.s. My wife made us some fresh strawberry shortcake when we arrived. Life is good! :)

Sounds like you had fun. Did the folks at the lodge offer to cook up your fish for you? I''ve only eaten there once....followed by a cool pint of course. I did 2 cottages about 3 minutes from the lodge last year. Nice area. Doesn't matter where you drive up here, there is a lake less then 5-10 minutes away from the next.

Randy,
Yes, they did offer to cook the fish for us. But my wife would not have been happy to miss out on a fish fry. We fried some up last night, with home made tartar sauce. Yum!
Very pretty area. Upper Rideau Lake looks beautiful, especially for skiing/tubing. But IMHO Bob's Lake seems better for fishing due to the many dozens of islands and rocky shoreline.
It was a first for me, to have someone clean my fish. Now that's livin, I tell ya! :)

Looks like a LM bass to me....regardless, it's a nice fish.
Wish I was in Canada fishing right now.........

I hope to make fishing into a retirement. I'm going to buy some parcels of land up north in Ontario this year and build some very modest fishing camps (fly-in only) and possibly hunting camps hopefully by next summer. I'll keep all you wealthy American tilesetters informed of my progress.
