I brewed my own once...somebody laid something on the top of it,in the fridge, and the pressure release let out all the fermentation fizz............I drank it anyway! :tup2: :D

I brew a batch every few months or so (or whenever my supply gets dangerously low :yummy: )

Im at about the end of my Heffewiesse batch (aka white ale, wheat ale), and my Barley Wine (yes it's actually beer) is about ready. The very strong flavor and 11% alc/vol content make it a "one beer a night" kinda beer. I'll brew up some Pale Ale's this weekend to get me through the rest of the summer.

www.tobp.com is a slow but informative beer forum...

So can I interview for the JB Forums brewmeister position? Who do I send my resume and beer samples too?

As a matter of fact, we can use a new brewer. Our current one has been awol for about a year or so. I have a feeling you'll have to compete for the position, though. :)

I don't brew my own beer but last year I started growing my own hops. I just like the look of them but I may have to branch out and use them eh?

ooh ooh ooh.. it was me! :clap1:

I should start cooking it tonight while the wifey is out at a ball game.... She cant stand the smell of the malt... I have to admit, it gets quite overwhelming in the kitchen when I start cooking beer. :loaded:

I had occasion to try a beer that I've never had before this week - Grain Belt Premium from Minnesota. I enjoyed it. It was less bitter, and more sweet than most beers. It had a good flavor though.

Sierra Nevada is my favorite Pale Ale... The batch of Pale Ale I was talking about earlier in this thread never made it to bottles... I used an old airlock on the secondary fermenter, and it got contaminated... Had to pour all 5 gallons out in the bushes. :bang: That was the first and hopefully last time that'll happen.

I just finished building an entertainment room for a customer complete with climate controlled wine room, and a bar with beer on tap. While at the supplier picking up CO2 tanks and taps for the customer, I got a setup for myself as well.. Now I'm kegging my own beer. :tup2:

PS- Still waiting to hear if I made official brewmeister.... Does the position offer benefits? :D

Angie,

Good luck with your hop vines... they usually grow well without too much fuss. They'll produce more cones than most people can use! When the cones are ripe, there's nothing better than dropping a couple into a glass of beer and kicking up the hop aroma by about 10X!

If you like fresh hop taste and aroma in your beer, this is the best way to get it!

Angie,
I've got hops growing in my backyard also. The vines are about 4' long right now and I think I saw the start of buds forming over the Fourth. Show me pictures of yours and I'll show you pictures of mine. :tup2:

Any of you folks out near Richmond, Virginia familiar with the products of Legend Brewery? Their brown ale and porter are among my favorites.

This is serious stuff...Beer contains female hormones!

Last month, National University of Lesotho scientists released the results of a recent analysis that revealed the presence of female hormones in beer. Men should take a concerned look at their beer consumption. The theory is that beer contains female hormones (hops contain phytoestrogens) and that by drinking enough beer, men turn into women.

To test the theory, 100 men drank 8 pints of beer each within a 1 hour period. It was then observed that 100% of the test subjects:

1) argued over nothing.

2) refused to apologize when obviously wrong.

3) Gained weight.

4) Talked excessively without making sense.

5) Became overly emotional.

6) Couldn't drive.

7) Failed to think rationally

8) Had to sit down while urinating.
