baseball a bit backwards ya think

On the way home today I was thinking for a minute, that's all I got now a days, my head starts hurtin.
Whoever developed the names of instances involved with this game of base ball had be just a bit drunk.
Here's what I get:

1) A short stop should be the catcher, Right?
2) A strike should be when a hitter makes contact, right?
3) A out should be a home run, ya think.
4) A ball-- now come on is that all they could come up with there?
5) I guess I'll call the short stop a 2.5 baseman.
6) And why cal it a home run if they nearly walk?
7)The on deck circle --I never seen a deck out there.
8)and damit the most important of all a pitcher is what you drink beer out of jeeeeze.

That's all I got I see ya rounding third, but dam now that I'm thinkin again Home should be the dug out and dam wheres the shovels.
Na really love the game. Go Senators :scratch:
