I signed on about an hour ago, and there were only 97 people on the boards. This is in comparison to our usual 250-350 people. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with tonight being the finale of American Idol. :D

I'm doing a cabinet job close to Quinlan, Tx. I stopped to visit my in-laws on the way home today. I actually love them. They love 'Deal Or No Deal'. I asked my mother-in-law about what was going with 'DOND' tonight and she said they were going to watch 'American Idol'.
I know a lot, but i don't still don't know squat about tile, ...or life in general...
I feel like I'm a member of the congregation and John, you are the Pastor. Teach me. ....
It's 7:00, tv time

No American Idol here but I will be watching the season finale of Lost. In fact, it's time to go make some popcorn!

I've never been an 'Idol" fan but the only time that it really captured my attention was flipping channels a few years ago ( we had and still have 'rabbit ears' ) and an 'Ichabod Crain' looking youth was singing with strength beyond his 'ability' and beauty of voice beyond his apearance. It was Clay Aiken. I was mesmerised by his singing voice. I continued to watch.
Even Simon applauded Clay...but after 'co-winning'...
Clays' simple strong notes became musical scales up and down the ladder as all marketable hip-hop singers do today. The beauty of a Sunday afternoon drive gave way to 'music city's rush hour traffic.

has to face the Pistons. The Pistons are hitting on all cylinders. I naturally root for a Texas team but a Detroit team win will 'spur' the nation...and they will be tough to beat.

American Idol? Never watch it but CNN says the 2 finalists are good.
It's Mets time in NY and their in first place. :clap2:
Joe Thanks for the heads up on Lost tonight. I never remember but I do like it.
Son gave me the first season CD for XMAS and it was a hit.

Jeeze, I'm out of the loop.
If it ain't on PBS, Nova, Biograpy, or History, cooking (BBQ), gardin'n channels, I usually miss it.
CNN had the bird flu thang on in India, which I follow (1918) but not too fond of liberal or conservative spins. Yanno, I just want the news, not opinions(what ever happened to Cronkite?)
I guess I'll have to make TiVo room for this Idol thang, although I'd hate to waste the 'Carlos Mencia' space for my 'west and wewaxation' show. :D

I agree. I just want the news too. Don't really care what 'they' think, just tell me what happend. By the way, don't mention Cronkite when requesting 'just the news.' He was the first modern journalist to give an opinion on air. It was regarding the Vietnem War.
As far as what I watch, I'm with Mark, I just watch the nerd channels although I add a dash of cartoons. Never grew up that much I guess. If the networks stopped broadcasting tomorrow I'd never know the difference.
Nessie,
I didn't know that about Cronkite. I guess real news pre-dates me.
"nerd shows" ? Hey, wait a minute now. I wouldn't use the 'n' word, they're just edjumacational shows . . . yeah, that's it. :D

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a nerd, just ask Bill Gates. Bet the girl who turned him down for the prom weeps into her corn flakes every morning.

Did you see all those people? I mean, geeez-I don't have enough time to get to the next job let alone go to the local arena and rout for some TV show. Are these people truly validated by such leisurely activities? I mean give me a steelhead stream anyday! :fish2: The only positive aspect of the whole affair is that maybe American pop culture is turning back to REAL music and talented artist's with real artistical skill! As witnessed by the genre' of music chosen as currently popular (i.e.-country, soul, rock).
Oh yeah, I had to watch because I have a 12 yr old. I didn't enjoy it though! :D
I think the guy in the CPE headgear scared everyone away!

CPE headgear. Yeah! :)
They are starting to straggle back in. Things are looking up. :)
American Idol is about the only regular network show I watch. My wife and kids got me into it, and I follow it now. It's wholesome, decent, and worthwhile. Some of you old fogies are really too much. :D
I do watch History Channel when it's not been re-run five times, and I like National Geographic type stuff. Occasionally, PBS has something worthwhile, not often, though. ;)

On the note of Bill Gates...I heard Dennis Miller talking about him in regard to class reunions, he said " considering the carnival of unending wedgies early school life must have been for the formitave nerd in his school years, do you think there is anyone on the planet that looks foreward to class reunions than Bill Flippin' Gates" :yeah:

In my David Allen thread I've noticed that in your reply window that there are these references. Like, the Kerdi and Newbies notes at the lower left- hand side. So, I thought they were like a kind way to chastise me for something I had done but didn't know was wrong. Anyway, I read the new member's material - just in case - because I like knowing the rules. There are so many unwritten one's too, so I perused the article in it's entirety and must say that the well balanced fairness that one only can receive from such a laborious, yet rewarding craft, comes through in your live-let-live approach. Hope to shake your hand some day. Oh yeah, please don't correct my posts like my third grade teacher used to. I'm only a tilesetter and it's hard to type when I'm wearing these baseballs gloves! :laugh2:
