View Full Version : How to polish marble to high shine?
I have a crema marfil polished slab vanity countertop. There is an etch area that I recently used MBstone's MB-11 polishing compound to restore. The etch seemed to diminish; however, so did the shine compared to the adjacent, original high shine marble. Does anyone know what I can use to restore the high shine and gloss? Sandpaper, tool etc. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Lily
I am sorry to have to disappoint you, but this is not typically a DIY kind of restoration.
The correct way would be to mechanically hone and polish the stone back to factory finish with a variable speed grinder and "sandpaper", followed by a polishing compound to restore luster. You would do a lot better to contact a stone restoration professional to fix your top. This is a skill very few folks have perfected.
They might well be expensive, but considering the cost of the correct equipment alone, it might work out a wash.

Hi Lily :)
I agree with Adrianna to hire a restoration pro. Some local fabricators may also have a field expert on hand. Make some calls, check references, and work (if possible).
