I am using AM sealers choice on porcelain wall tiles.

It did test on my 1'x1' test scrap board and one coat beaded up the
water pretty well. I let it sit there for overnight. In one area
it absorbed or evaporated after 8 hours, 3 other areas still had the
water sitting on it.

Is 1 coat for a kitchen wall fine or is 2 overkill? I don't mind the time and
expense applying another coat. On the other hand, I don't know the science
behind the sealer. Two beers are better than one, but I don't know if same analogy applies.

Ashton,

two coats on porcelain is probably overkill, but so is two beers for my wife :yeah: I can't see what it would hurt to put on another coat, the grout will still take sealer but the tile may not so just wipe up any sealer that does not penetrate.

I've not used this product from Sealers Choice, so like eveything,You may also consult them, read the label ect. Don't be too proud to call that number on the back of the bottle and ask for technical support. I know that sounds simplistic but I can't believe how many problems I could have avoided :dunce: through the years had I done just that.

Agreed, and further, generally only polished porcelain is recommended to be sealed, regular porcelain isn't porous enough to absorb and hold a sealer.

A second coat will benefit the grout....that is the weakest link anyway, as far as absorption is concerned.

I do two coats on grout whether it needs it or not. Sealer is cheap and easy. Nasty grout isn't.
