Hi Ya`ll!! I`ve got 55 sq ft of 200 yr old Hungarian tile going in an entry ,that came from a court yard in Hungaray. Its 8x8 ,has a connecting print pattern, the body appears to be made of concrete approx 5/8" thick, then approx 1/8" of the surface (the pattern) is what is as hard as concrete but very, very fine with a smooth finish ?

When wipeing the face of the tiles w/sponge to clean any dribbles or ooz of thinset, the red+black part of the pattern bleeds just a little ,the white does not appear to bleed obviously the whole tile is porous .My concern is what would be the best sealer, wax poly etc... to even start testing tiles (extra ones of course!) to seal before grouting+maintanance sealing.I probably won`t help but I`ll try to post a pic or two.

I am installing this on the side of caution ,not knowing the real make up of this tile so any help would be GREAT!!

Hi Lou, Welcome! :)

As you said, you need to TEST product 1st.

Some of the industry leaders are Prosoco, Aqua Mix, Stone Tech, Miracle Sealants, and Sure Seal, to name a few.

There isn't any one sealer fits all. I personally would check with tech from any one of the above sealers and describe what you have. Do a live TEST on one of your sample tiles, and check for desired results. Many of the sealers are changing to flouro polymer technology, which is proving to be very effective.
