Ok all you pros thought I would throw this out there to get peoples thoughts.

Lot of companies offering long guarantees of:

"leaking shower repairs without lifting tiles"

Any one know of the products these companies use and if so how good are they etc.

I think there are some epoxy based products which set hard or "weld" together surfaces. How could they not crack?

What sort of sealing must they be doing in order to offer such a long guarantee.

Here are some links of 2 such companies

Thanks

The problem is your shower obviously wasn't installed correctly to begin with, putting a band-aid, if you will, over it doesn't A. detect why it is leaking, and B. doesn't guarantee that it will work, or if so, for how long. You need to pull up the tiles and see why the PAN is leaking and have it redone (correctly) or repaired if that is the answer. Good luck.

I would agree and say that it may very well seal it from future leaking...for awhile, but it can't repair damage done underneath, and without downloading their info, i'd have to call it wishfull thinking.

Hi Wellos :)

I have seen the link to the second site previously.

Before I go any further, why are you inquiring about them? :shades:

The first one has a more professionally done website, and shows wonderful craftmanship after the job is complete.

It does depend on where the shower is leaking. It's not uncommon to fill loose grout and redo the caulk and be able to resolve the problem. If in fact the pan or the liner is leaking, I would not depend on this system.

I sometimes get shower pan repair job leads from a local Tub and Tile restoration company. I can redo the pan and lower shower walls but the new tile NEVER matches the old. When I am done he will use his process/system to coat the entire shower to a single color. This works well and is a great way to change the look of a funky green or pink 4 1/4" shower and wainscot into a more modern neutral. And the end result is a very waterproof shower.
