I have newly installed porcelain tile. It has a shiny finish on it, and the water drops don't stick to it. I am not sure what kind of finish it is.
I made a mistake by applying Aquamix grout haze cleaner to the grout lines, and now my porcelain tile has lost its shiny finish in various spots. It looks like dull stains throughout my floor.
How do I restore the finish and make it appear even and shiny. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Hi Amy
Spot test a section by applying some of the same Aquamix stuff onto the spots that show and see if it will reemsulsifty (sp) and then wipe the tile clean. A lot of grout sealers will do that. Where it is allowed to dry on the tile you can see it but go back with the same sealer and rub it around on the area where it shows and then wipe clean it will be gone.
I'm sure some others will be along soon with other suggestions.
Good luck

Hi JTG
I want to clarify that I used a Grout Haze Cleaner, not a sealer on my porcelain tile. Do you suggest I use a sealer to cover the dull spots.
Thanks.

It sounds like grout haze on the tile. Have you tried using the haze remover on the dull spots?

Amy
What I suggest is use the haze remover and rub it around on the dull spots to see if it will reemulsify and then wipe clean.

I tried to use the grout haze cleaner again on the parts of the tile where it was spilled initially but it doesn't reemulsify. I was wondering if someone might know what it was covered with initially. It did look like some kind of shiny coating that got removed with the haze cleaner.

The shine on your porcelain tile is a glaze that was fired onto the tiles at a very high temperature. Whatever you did left something on top of the glaze that is blocking the shine. The glaze was not harmed.

Try calling AquaMix at 800-333-9325 and asking them what to use to remove the grout haze remover.

What kind of tile? I imagine that if it had a shiny coating that came off with haze remover, it was a sacrificial coating that needed to be cleaned off anyway.

It was porcelain tile, i tried to find out about the coating from the people in the store who sold me the tile, but they were saying that the coating was a termal coating applied during manufacturing process. And the only way to restore it is to have somebody do it with special machinery. It didn't make sense to me at all. Do you think covering with the high-gloss sealer will restore its look?
Thank you

Yes Amy, we know that. What kind of porcelain tile? Like, who made it, what series, what style, color, stuff like that? Something don't sound right about your situation. Details help.
