Surprised that anything would penetrate a porcelain tile like that.
SureClean 600 will take it off no problem. Find it at a concrete supply house.
Wear rubber gloves and start with a mild dilution and add more until it takes it out. Lots of ventalation.
If your friend still has some time to test other stuff. I have real good luck with BBQ lighter fluid taking stuff out and WD-40.
The SureClean get anything but it is so strong I would worry about what it might do. Can't let it get on any metal. Eats a hold in the clothes.
Tell your friend good luck and let me know what works.

Believe it or not, he tried everything, and found Barkeepers friend took it off.I was really surprised!I saw the job and people had walked through the chalk and got it everywhere. He tried sureclean/bleach/wd-40/numerous paint removers, and acetone, goobgone, and such, but he finally got it.I'm working on the same development,he came beggin for help, but i was clueless...let this be info for all,i was surprised myself. This pocelain was bad, in that you couldn't get the pencil marks off either, but they finally did.

Post #25 is where it gets interesting.

Warning on label of can:
Bar Keeper's Friend contains oxalic acid. Note: May etch some finishes such as older porcelain. May discolor some colored grout.

Isn't Sureclean 600 simply diluted muratic acid?

Also, in researching this, they said not to mix red chalk with acidic chemicals, gives off an iron oxide fume, or something...said if you come in contact with it,quickly get out of town, and drink plenty of carbonated fluids...preferably in Orlando. :yeah:
