Hey folks,
Anyone have recommended temperature and humidity ranges for sealing grout?
Used StoneTech Pro, BulletProof, for grout on a cold rainy day. Dryed with white haze. Used on warmer yet humid day and it came out really well. Allowed basicly the same drying time for both.
While I was typing just thought of possible problem with hazy floor. It was a raised floor with crawl space. Do you think air temperature and humidty beneath affected the subsurface moisture while appearing to be dry?
Thanks,
doitright

Hi George :)
Humidity levels will certainly have an effect if the the grout has not cured to a sufficient level prior to sealing. Hazing is usually caused by overapplication, and/or existing moisture.
As to what the specific moisture ranges are, you'll need to speak directly with Stone Tech.

Thanks. Product was definately not the problem. Think I'll wait longer before application on those type days. Not many days around here when the temperature is 34 degrees and raining.
Welcome, George. :)
I'm curious what material you're seeing the haze on. Did you seal some stone or tile as well as the grout, or just the grout?
The BulletProof is a water-based product and, so long as the grout is cured, is indicated for use over damp surfaces. Specifically, "Sealer may be applied to damp surfaces one hour after standing water has been removed."
Low temperatures could increase the curing time, but it's advertised to require 24 to 72 hours for full cure anyway.
My opinion; worth price charged.

It was on the grout. Floor has been down several years. Here's a picture of the finished product. Recleaned the floor and it removed much of the white haze but some areas were lighter. Picture was taken following day.
