Don't know if it's credible, but google quickly turned up a page debunking at least some of this.

Thanx Dave, that was a good page to read. I agree with the whole urban
legend idea and the points made on the site about how people tend to jump
on the bandwagon and site specific quotes from religious text and try to apply the information in a way that proves prediction unfolding in front of
our eyes.

Iraq was the indeed the cradle of humanity something like 4000 BC. I read that the wheel, geometry and writing was invented there.

A few other points not mentioned on the list.
Nimrod, the king who built the Tower of Babel, is considered to be the "first mason".
The first use of TILE was discovered in Iraq.
The first recorded use of laws and currency took place in what is now called Iraq.
The first discovered evidence of BEER was found in an excavated sentry's post in what is now called Iraq.

All of this makes the museum looting that took place so much more tragic. Much of what was stolen has been returned, but much was destroyed by acts of vandalism as well.

You spose one of them mal-content type looters grabbed the excavated beer and (perhaps) consumed, or otherwise disposed of it.

What a terrible loss to mankind.

I mean the looter.... mankind gots' plenty of beer :---)

About the eagle verse I was sent an e-mail about that a few years ago and found it to be untrue. I don't remember the excatct website, but it was something like mytruth.com, thetruth.com or truth.com.

Iraq does have a long history, but none of that matters present day and doesnt't justify there actions today.
