I'm headed to Grapevine Texas next week for an Abbey Floorcovering Convention. We will be staying at the Gaylord Texan. Is anyone familiar with the Texan, or the local area?

Thanks,

Danny

Hey Dave, I'm just curious if anyone on the board is from the area, or if anyone had ever stayed at the hotel. I would hate to miss something in the area I might regret. Like a great eatery, sports bar, or something else.

I've heard of Grapevine, but I've never known where it is. There is also a Grapevine out in California. Don't quite know where that one is, either.

Hi Danny. :)

Danny, with rooms starting at $194 a night, this better be a mighty fine place to stay. Bring money, lots of it. ;)

If you fly in to DFW airport, you won't have far to go. Grapevine is just Northwest of the airport.

Heading from L.A. toward Fresno and Bakersfield, there's a steep grade, not sure how many miles long but it's called the Grapevine. The last time I went through there it was snowing, got down to L.A. and it was in the 80's.

It's going to be a road trip. It's about 8hrs or so from Arkansas. Thanks for the pic of the hotel Mike, it looks nice.

When I lived in Southlake, right next door to Grapvine, the onliest thing Grapevine had was a lake of the same name.

Which was exactly one feature more than Southlake had. :D

Drove through the area last year when I was out lookin' for Davy and the transformation in twenty years was truly amazing. I don't know exactly where that hotel is, but I wouldn't be surprised if I hunted quail there back in the late seventies. :)
