The gun safe thread made me post this.Locally a 14 yr. old boy was tired of being taunted by bullies, and took a 38 cal. replica bb gun to school to scare them.He made his way into the restroom, and hid out..the police were called, and details are sketchy, but they went into the restroom, and wound up shooting and killing the boy.The parents rushed to the scene, and tried to explain the boy didn't have a real gun..but it was too late.

Today, we had another 14-year old boy take a real gun to school about 20 miles North of me. Maybe he just wanted to show off or maybe he just wanted to scare somebody? Dunno yet. He shot a 14-year old girl in the neck by accident. She'll be okay and the boy's in custody with his gun.
Why aren't parenting licenses required by law?

if guns were banned we'd still have 14 year olds!!

Who says anything about banning guns? Plenty of people own guns and behave themselves. Even REALLY stupid people can own plenty of guns and not be a danger to anyone. I completely blame the parents for mishaps like this. "Respectful behavior", "anger management", "responding appropriately" and a value of the lives and well-being of others are all traits which only family can instill. If it's lacking in the child, it's because the parents have neglected their obligation to raise that child properly. I dunno, maybe three-strikes should extend to parents? Three incidents commited by your kids and you loose your reproductive rights? Your kid does something really stupid, maybe yoy (the parent) should bear some of the penalty?

Just read in the news (fox.com) - 7 year old boy took a gun to school - went off on accident and shot an 8 year old girl in the arm. She went to the hospital w/ non-life threatening injuries. His parents were recently arrested. Investigation pending.

Dave,
I've already started "blacklisting" boys Hannah's age (6 months). I expect that for the first 20 years of her life, I'll be the meanest ogre she's ever known. And if I can get her to 21 safely, it'll all be worth it.
CX,
You been listening to that jackalope Limbaugh, haven't you?

I ain't listened to Rash Lardball for years now, Shaughnn, and I only lasted about six months when I first heard him down here loooong time ago. Difficult for me to believe he's still on the air, actually.

Different strokes, I s'pose. :)

Guns don't kill people,...people kill people!
Doesn't matter if it was a gun, car, baseball bat, or a dirt clod.

Just my opinion.

Shaughnn i understand your frustration. I have 3 children, all of them very
unique and to each a seperate challenge on how to raise them. If i should have a parenting license shouldnt there be a mandatory course required
to recieve this? all i know i was havin fun and boom family  my kids
are good kids, but anything can happen, i dont have 100% control. never will either. i can only express my values, and as i recall my values are entirely
different than my parents values.

A four year old boy went to sunday school with a oozi and threatened the entire congregation. While he had everyone on the floor face down decided to jump up on the alter. This was outragous. He was wearing camo's and smoking a stoggy. Opie is doing all right now :clap2:

Yeah Yeah Scott hopefully you jim were having fun i didnt find it amusing. I have over 100 firearms in this house. When it comes to kids SAFETY comes first and foremost. I only keep 3 firearms togther in this house. We have a 14 yr old girl. No one is allowed in the house unless I or the wife is here for that reason. Also I have gun safes in this house all safes require 2 keys. which I have one and the wife has the other on key rings. I am all for gun safety. Its not the child who is at fualt it is the teacher. If the parent does not protect the gun and rules then what happens happens. Everyday when you drive you have a 50% of dieing in a car. A gun is much safer than driving on the road.

That 14 year old that brought the very real looking toy gun to school, pointed it at the swat team.

He may have been suicidal.

I have some of those airsoft guns, along with my real gun collection. Believe me, it one of the toy guns were pointed at you, you would think it was a real one.

Either take cover or shoot first.:D
