I'm planning about 325 ft of tile in my kitchen and hallway/foyer and this is my first time laying tile. I'm handy and sure I can tackle it but, I'm trying to ask all the questions and do all the possible research first. The tile we like does not have straight edges. It's kind of wavy, looking like it's chisled out of stone. How does a beginner line these tiles up as the spacers won't necessarily work on these with the edges not being square.

TIA

I would drylay them to get a feeling for the grout joint size, then get a measurement and grid out my floor in squares with a chalk line to keep them straight..so each grid box would contain four tiles.

I just finished up with 1,000 s/f of similar tile. We decided to go with a running bond (brick style) to enhance the rustic look of the tile.

Chalk a line and go from there. ( lining up all of the "high" spots on the sides) With the brick style, we had alot of room to work one way or the other as the tiles also varied in size. Pretty much set the tile and work each one into a final resting point that your happy with. I found it rather important to rechalk a line every 3 courses, that wavey tile can get away pretty quick!
