Walking thru the local HD store we saw a lumber cart filled with cbu, boxes of porcelain tile, buckets of premixed "thinset" and premixed stain release grout. The shopper was nowhere in sight. Dave shook his head and moved along...I stood there. He asks "you're going to wait and talk to them aren't you?" My answer "well, we can't just let them use this crud." Dave replies, "OK, I'll be moving along to hardware so they won't know I am with you."
Coward.
The older couple returns and I asked "so, what kind of project are you doing?" They happily reply "we're redoing a whole bath!" I ask "are you using this thinset and grout?" Looking at me like I am really stupid "well, yes. It should go a lot faster using these ready made products." I reply, "well, that's true, but your tile and grout will fail a lot faster too." Long story short we discussed how concrete can't stay wet for 6 months in a bucket, etc etc. We went back and picked up some thinset, bags of sanded grout, discussed sealers and talked for awhile. Dave peeked around the corner a few times and when he saw it was safe came over and joined in.
They said thank you about ten times.
You all are good teachers!

Thanks Marge! It's a really good feeling when you can help someone dodge the bullet like that, ain't it? :) My wife does as Dave does and totters off to the garden section while I'm off in the tile aisle "saving the world from itself".
We oughta wear capes and superhero masks with all the good deeds we're doin, :D:

Dan,
That sort of talk will get you visit from the constabulary. :crap: Last loud arguement I got into with an orange apron, I let *him* do all the yelling while I just kept politely telling him that he didn't know what he was talking about and suggesting places he might check out if he wanted to borrow a clue. When it was all said and done, I hung around in the aisle to answer the questions of the people who had gathered because of the commotion and I told the tile aisle underling that he could do himself and his customers a favor if he checked out some manufacturer's websites and this forum.
Every once in a while, I run into that manager and he just pretends he doesn't see me.

Dave probably wishes HE had a mask at the time.....
Dan, in AZ it is legal to carry a gun in plain view (unless posted otherwise at the entrance to a business). Dave says I shouldn't tell you that in case you might be inclined to move here. :D

I would so love to take a couple of the classes there!
The cast is off my hand and I get to start working on my cabin bath mural again in a week or so. Maybe I'll spend the next few days hanging out near the Edge Tile display at Lowes....just kidding. ;)

OK Shaughnn, let's get this straight. I don't "totter" and I don't go to the "garden section". I just mosey'd on over to the he-man power tool section. ;) :D
Marge did do a good deed today. I'm proud of her. She is just more outgoing then I am.

I looked at him like he was from outer space got my pack of Milwaukee Torch brand 18 teeth per inch blades went home and cut that baby right off no problemo and no hammer. Thank God my dad God rest his soul taught me better and thank God I found this sight!

Guy comes home from work and hollers...honey, I'm home....no answer.
Raising his voice he hollers... I had a tough day at work...no answer.
Practically screaming he says...all the gys are accusing me of being gay...still no answer.
At the top of his lungs he yells...dammit it Lance, can't you hear me? :D
