Man i am a native to washington although i live in cali. Im soo excited to
see the seahawks doing so incredibly well this year. Born in portangles WA
and moved to ca as a kid ive always had a tie to the homeland. The media
has never given due attention to the seahawks but this year there is no
denying they will not stand on the side. Seahawks vs. Redskins 20-10
RAWR!!!! One more game and we are superbowl bound ;)

From a diehard Skins fan, congratulations on your win. As far as the media never giving you your due, this was a game between two teams that were given no respect throughout the season.
That was a good game, not quite the blowout that everyone was predicting. Good luck against Carolina/Chicago.

at the end i thought the colts were gonna bring it back , too bad.
I was rooting for the Bears tonight only because i know the panthers will
be more of a challenge, but im positive the Seahawks will take them down
as well.

I agree with John also. I'm hands down for the chicken hawks now, but the steelers are a great road team this year. They fly around and confuse the heck out of the other teams. They made snake bite plummer look like a 2nd or first year quarterback. Plus the bus will be playing in his hometown, so the Steelers will have a homefield advantage.

What happend, no idea. Steelers took one questionable touch down

Hamilton

I picked the right team, they just lost. The first touchdown by the steelers
will be reviewed in the future you just watch. The seahawks offense is superior to the steelers offense. the seahawks defense is also superior to
the steelers defense. steelers made a couple big plays and these plays won
the game. overall the seahawks played better in my honest opinion.
sdaniels7114
02-05-2006, 09:18 PM
I agree that Seattle did look better overall, but they left themselves open for the big play too often. Where in the world was the secondary on that 75 yard td run?
Levi the Tile Guy
02-05-2006, 10:01 PM
I also agree that the hawks played better, but that really doesn't matter. They killed themselves, letting penalities take away the few big plays they had that could've been game changers. Also the steelers definately had the better home field advantage. Was a pretty good game though.
The one thing that woulda made it better would've been the Broncos winning two weeks ago.
Mike2
02-05-2006, 11:07 PM
Was a tough game for this Hawk's fan to watch. Not fun seeing your team with 7 penalities giving up 70 yards.
Right on Levi, we killed our own game plan. :bang:

The Seahawks were running on all eight cylinders during the play-offs but not yesterday. You can't have that many dropped passes and expect to win. The Steelers didn't play all that well, Hawks should have beat them.

I still dont understand the offensive pass interference call on jackson while
he made the touchdown and had it taken away, nor do i understand the
touchdown rothlisberger made where he landed outside the endzone. I realize
jackson touched whoever it was but it was only a touch. Guess i need to
learn all the specific rules better. Rothlisberger might have had the ball a couple of inches into the white line on the endzone in the air but he was smacked back and landed outside of even touching that line with the ball.
School is session can anybody explain these rulings?

1) For the offensive pass interference - it's something that's being called more often. I heard it more than a few times this season. I just rewatched that on my DVR, and he did push the PITT player back. You could see him go back on his heals and lose balance. He might have gotten away with it if he didn't do it right in front of the ref.
2) If the ball touches the white line it's in. Even if he was in while he was in the air, and then pushed back. Forward Progress right? I watched it on DVR too, and it's damn close.
Again though, we're all watching it on TV, and the refs are right there and have replay if needed. It's not fool-proof by any means, but better than us. But these are at least my understanding...
I still wish it had been a better game. I wonder if the 2 weeks off had anything to do with it.

Jack
Just to add a bit to what Brian said, there is an imaginary plane that extends vertically upwards from the leading edge of the white goal line marker. As long as the ball carrier hasn't gone down (ie knees on turf), then it is a touchdown when the ball "breaks the plane". How much? It only needs to break the plane of the goal line, so if the ball is in only 1/8" then it's a touchdown. It doesn't matter how the ball got there, as long as it's in the possession of the ball carrier. It doesn't matter how high or how low the ball is...it's a touchdown. And it doesn't matter if the ball carrier is driven back ten yds , because the play (and the clock) ends when the touchdown is called. To me, it looked like the ball made it in about one inch.

You're describing the players' movements correctly, but if you watch the defender leading up to the touch, you'll see that he was already heading that way. These are big, strong guys. They don't just get moved with light contact. The touch and the backwards movement were co-incidental to each other, which means it shouldn't have been called. Since it happened so fast and can't be reviewed, I can see how it could easily be mistaken, but that doesn't change the fact that a mistake was made.
RLeVan
02-07-2006, 10:50 PM
When your running, it doesn't take more than a tap to knock you a little off balance. I'm not saying that he wasn't interfered with by the defender before the play, because he was. But he wasn't the focus of the play at that point. When it became a broken play, he did push off and I think it was a good call.
When the reciever places his hands on a defender with the intent to create seperation, then it's a penalty. Similar to Hasselback being down by contact on his fumble.
Raymond S
02-08-2006, 10:26 PM
Rob, I agree with your views, but why was the side judge running in with one arm raised to indicate the ball was down, then halfway in he signaled touchdown. What could he have seen to make him change his call? Answer - nothing.
Pass interference - yeah, maybe, if you want to be ticky-tack about it, but both the receiver and defender were "hand fighting" each other until the ball was thrown.
The holding call that negated the reception down to the one yard line? Bogus.
The personal foul on Hasselback on the interception for "blocking" below the waist? No, he was making a tackle. When was the last time you saw a personal foul called on a quarterback? Ever???
I had no preference as to who would win, I just wanted to see a good game. The calls left me thinking a little less of the NFL. Hate to say that.
Let's face it guys, the Seahawks got hosed.

Hey Jack, been admiring your stuff again. My whole family says hi. Please keep up the mudwork thread.
Rob, hey man. Yeah, it's pretty easy to see what the official intends to do when the qb is downed. What I want to hear him say is why he waited till he was halfway in before he raised the other arm. I dunno.
Been busy, mostly New Orleans stuff. One flooded place here in B.R.

Nothing to do with the Super Bowl, but Aussie football players are not necessarily small men. In fact, Aussies as a rule are about the same size as Americans. I saw Aussie football only once in person. Was in Vietnam (Vung Tau). Two Aussie army companies got together for a friendly game. Blood all over the place. Never could quite figure out who won. :D

We have some absolutley huge guys (Tony Lockett, ex-Sydney Swans about 191cms) and some tiny little fellas too (Tony Liberatore, Western Bulldogs - 167 cms) but the great thing is it is all about skill, not just about how hard you can hit the other guy. Although, having said that, I do like it when it gets a bit rough! The AFL are cracking down on onfield "melees" so when the players get caught up start slugging away, the crowd really fires up! There's nothing like being at the MCG during the finals (full house) on a clear, sunny winter's day, watching the boys go for a run. Its still fun even when its hailing!
