I found this over at JLC. In the spirit of my hero Steve McQueen....

Press the "play" arrow.

Wow, I was completely expecting a rotting zombie to jump out at me at some point. I think the scariest point was the dark tree-lined narrow road with all the pigeons. Thanks for finding this. :)

:tup2: That was quite a ride Rob.

Would have been even better had he taken it through the Louvre. That'a even pewt a smile on the Mona Lisa. :)

Here's another link that goes with it:

So, how does it compare to Gene Hackman in "The French Connection"?

That was insane considering the number of red lights he blew through. Nice to see another Steve McQueen fan hehe. In a more recent movie, this is better than the car chase in Ronin which I thought was pretty well done although the plot wasn't very impressive.

After he nearly hit that bus, the first thing that popped into my head was Death Race 2000.

Rick

It's a point of serious debate among several of us as to which is the better chase scene-McQueen in Bullit or Hackman in French Connection. I think my vote goes to Hackman. :)

 I loved it, my HR increased everything as if I were doing it, the only thing I didn't get was the sweaty palms I usta get.

That driver was awesome, he geared everything beautifully, he controlled the turns, and he had the cajones when he needed it.

:blah: :blah: :blah: :lol1: :lol1: I want more!!!!

OK I admit it I'm a speed junky.muhahahahahah!!!

Rob,

I would have to agree that the "French Connection" barely (and I emphasize barely) trumps Bullit. When picking great car chase flicks, it's difficult to pick just one. Just wanted to mention that "Ronin" had a pretty sweet chase. Not quite as fake as the recent remake of "Gone in Sixty Seconds" or the rediculous "Fast and the Furious". Then again, I'm still waiting for the DVD release of "Grand Prix", got my "Le Mans" this Christmas. I don't buy these movies primarily for the acting. :yeah:

Steven,

Unfortunatley, the director (term used loosely in a fun sort of way) admited that the audio track was not original. After the first 30 seconds, I began to doubt that it was original becuase of the gear used during the acceleration on the straights. No driver stays that long in 5th gear high rev, then shift to 6th with no change in speed.

The real treat was, even though it wasn't actual audio, the heel-toe matched revs downshifting everytime either a turn or an oh-**** situation came up. I don't care who you are, when an engine screams as you blip the throttle while the tires are begging for traction, now that is excitement.

Dammit, are there any local SCCA events running? Heehe, winter can drive car fanatics insane. :nya:

My vote goes for Bullitt, but I cannot remember the French Connection chase.
Nobody is as cool as McQueen....."it's not for you baby" (Steve to Jacqueline Bisset.)

That french film is one wild ass drive. That guy has some huge cahoonies!!
