I ask you this, my fellow brotheren, are we men? are we tile gods? or are we just plain putz'

I give you this, my situation to mull upon....

I have a 4 bedroom home, which is really just a 3 bedroom with a glorified 4th. So 2 days ago, my girlfriend, who lives with me tells me the following...

.... 300 people at work, I am a top producer, and now and I can work from home, which they only let less than 20 people to do....

Okay, so here is the problem....

My so called 4th bedroom, no problem, turn it in to a full time office. It was an office to begin with, but it must me a day to day work place for someone.

So, to make a short story long, 2 days ago I tear out the closet framing, patch the sheetrock (which i hate, I cant stand sheetrock), and start tiling in the whole thing.

So I have from last Wednesday till monday to get this thing ready, and now the closet is out, making it a real office, the new tile is down, and now I am getting @#$%#$#%&$ to, I mean being complained to because I wont have built in stuff before next wednesday and will only be able to put a desk in.

And by the way, I coulndnt even get her to haul out the scrap rock i pulled out. Am i being a butt? because i am being told i am!!!!

i tore the closet out, fixed the rock, (which needs another sanding by the way) and put down a new tile floor in there., and am expected to have built ins by next week..

Now I remember why i am divorced! And not married to anyone again! I suppose I can now have a kick ass office to myself or something else!!

Sorry to vent!!

I slit my hand re-doing the heating vent, so I now have 7 stiches in my knuckles! And I am still doing this crap!

Kurtis,
In such a situation, my Union leadership would advise a strike to force both parties back to the negotiating table. I think a "goin fishing" trip for the afternoon or even a "I'm goin to the movies by myself and here are the tools if you want to work on the office" ultimatum might even be in order. Heck, tell her that if it's not ready by Wednesday she can always work from the office until it is, and then suggest that she could lend a hand if she doesn't like that alternative.
Tons of fun and a Happy New Year!

I agree with Shaughnn.

Give em a inch and they want a mile. Time for renegotiation! :whip:

Gotta say Krash, she should be helping as much as you will let her!

I agree with the idea of taking a 'day off' to let her decide how she wants to 'negotiate' about getting the work done. If she wants a new office, she should be putting in sweat equity and paying for the materials!

But that is just one woman's idea....

A pool and poker table would look alot nicer than a desk in that room.
