This is a true story (according to the British tabloids).

A guy was traveling down Kings Rd. in a big fancy mercedes. He sees someone about to pull away from a parking meter and stops to let the car out. The car pulls away and he pulls forward to reverse into the vacant parking space. Another guy in a mini pulls headlong into the parking space, jumps out of his vehicle and says "That's what you can do with a mini!"
The mercedes driver does no more than reverse into the mini and says "That's what you can do with money!"

I forget how much the merc driver was fined, but I remember that a mini cost about 700 sterling.

My very first "brand new" car was a mini (Morris Minor). I was stationed in France at the time -- 1961 it was. It had left-hand drive. The cost was right at $1,000.

Went 71 mph wide open, got 50 miles per gallon and could turn on a dime.

Another thing you can "do with a mini" is nose it into the parking space at the curb, and then get out, lift up the back end and ease it over to the curb. That's unless you have something heavy in the "boot." The car itself weighed 1,200 lbs, most of it in the front.

I loved that car. It took me all over Europe.
