Home Depot sells sealant from Tile Lab, in a large green container. Is it any good ? And does it pose any health hazards ?
Pls advise
Thank you.

Another question:
What is the best sealant for a beginner to use ? I am getting ready for my first re-grout job. Wondering if the Home Depot sealant is any good ... or should I go for the Impregnator Pro stuff ?
Which is easier to use ? Maybe a better question: on which is there less of a chance for me to screw up ?
Thanks

We would love to have you shop here, but if you can't,if you've got a home depot, you must have a Lowes, and they carry aquamix..a much better product.Whatcha regroutin?

I am regrouting the hallway, approx 40 sq ft. Ceramic tiles. Am not replacing tiles. Some of the old grout has flaked and started falling out. Looks like previous owner of this house had patched some holes in the grout.
This picture shows the areas that I will be regrouting.
Will be using powdered grout, mix with water.
Looks like I will look for Lowes and Aquamix

Is this tile over a wood floor, or slab?Usually when grout cracks and comes out in chunks it means there is movement underneath, and regrouting probably will only be a short temporary repair, i'm afraid. Can you give us a first name...you might be on the site for awhile.

What would cause movement underneath ?
Floor is made out of wood. There is crawlspace underneath the house. 30 year old house
The chuncks of grout coming out are approx 0.75 inch to 1 inch length, maybe 0.25 inch wide max.
My name is Austin Travis.
I had also posted to the other forum on this site, asking about premixed vs powdered grout.
Any insights / perspectives about the cause of grout coming out ?
Thanks
Stoner, this floor is over in the Advice forum in this (http://johnbridge.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=29921) thread.
Austin, you can now see the hazard in posting more than one theread for a project. It's quite understandable that you would want to post your sealer question on this forum, though. It's difficult sometimes, but be aware of the confusion factor. :)
On the other forum, post any and all questions about the rest of the project, eh? And we'll try to keep the discussion here to the sealing only. Dave will find the thread over yonder and help with the floor repairs there.
We just don't get a lot of good reports on the Tile Lab products, as Dave said. Better to use the Aquamix if you wanna buy locally, or StoneTech Professional products if you wanna shop online through our store.
My opinion; worth price charged.

No prob. Will confine the discussion of this floor to the other forum.
Sorry about confusion.
