The guy that retiled my bathtub wall filled the joints around the tub with grout and it is a BIG joint. Now the grout is cracked all around the tub. Should I try to remove the hardened, cracked grout and fill in the large gap between the tile and tub with caulk? Is it recommended to fill in a wide gap with just caulk? I don't want to risk water damage behind the new tile job. :loaded:

Can you give us a first name...i hate to think i'm talkin to a guy called sweet thing? :o It is customary to caulk that joint, and there is a lip back there to keep water from getting to anything important...it would be nice if you could scrape away some of the grout to make a pretty, and small joint there.

Hi ST, Welcome! :)
What Dave said about a first name. :shades:
Normally we would caulk that joint. Problem is, is if it is as large as you say, this may not be the best solution.
Can you post a picture?
