had my bathtub wall retiled by a young, do-it-yourselfer...however, the space between the tub spout and tile wall has grown and now the spout doesn't flush against the tile wall- do I try to get a longer, specialty spout (original is old- maybe 30 yrs.. a Moen) or cut the pipe and rethread so the original spout can be twisted back on???

You may be able to look up underneath the spout and find an allen set that you can loosen, so you can realign the spout, and fill the back with silicone to hold it, or put a new one on....unless it's the screw on type, which you could either go through the back of the wall on the other side, to make a hole to go in there and put a clamp on the pipe to hold it...or pull the spout out a little and silicone the back at the wall junction.
