HI Guys!!

Let me start by saying THANK YOU for this wonderful forum!! My name is Brande and my husband, John, and I own a tile installation company in Charleston, S.C. You guys have provided a wealth of knowledge for me as I continue to learn the ins-and-outs of my husbands profession.

Anywho...Thought I would throw this one atcha...

Polished marble tile on a floor (approx. 275 s/f). Installed a couple of months ago. Problem: Aquamix color enhancer was used on the floor. The surface of the tile appears to have "bubbled" or is giving off a "bubbling" affect. The customer called us to "fix" this problem for her but we don't have a clue as to what might have caused this. Any ideas on how to restore this floor? She likes the polished look (which is why she choose the polished tile in the first place) and would just like the enhancer removed. What would be the best route to take in removing this stuff?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

Most polished marbles will not absorb anything. That is why the enhancer is just sitting on top of the stone making the floor look yucky :monster:

If she knows what kind of enhancer was used, you could look on the label to see if they have any suggstions for removal. Alternately, they should have a tech line on there somewhere - they will be able to tell you for sure how to remove it.

Do not use any acidic or harsh caustic strippers or cleaners on the marble - it is a relatively soft calciferous matrial that will react to those chemicals and cause all kinds of trouble - etching, pitting and spalling, to name a few.

Test the stripper you will use in an inconspicuous spot in case things don't turn out too great :suspect:

If you are not sure of your capability to handle something like this, get the hands-on advice of a reputable stone restoration pro. Restoring stone floors is a science all by itself!

Good luck and tell us how it turns out :)

Hi Alltile,

I myself will be performing a similar repair in the near future.

While the use of a simple solvent may be a starting point, I suggest that you may end up calling in a stone restoration pro to powder polish your entire floor

Hi Brande, Welcome! :)

As been mentioned, give AquaMix Tech a call first. Do a TEST area first.

How soon did you seal, after setting the stone?

More than likely most, if not all, the Enrich n Seal is sitting on the surface of the stone.

What size grout joints do you have?

Did you use sanded or unsanded grout?
