View Full Version : Bulletproof or Impregnator Pro? What to do?

I guess this is a "solvent based" versus "water based" issue, but I have no practical idea on how to decide. The application will be an entire master bath done in tumbled marble (durango), including floor, walls and entire shower area.
I have a good protective mask, so I'm not too worried about application. Not sure how long the solvent based will affect the surrounding air thought. In any case, I'm most concerned about getting the strongest water and stain resistance to the marble.
Thanks for the inputs,
John
In the StoneTech Professional line, the BulletProof is the premier sealer. It's water based and more durable and long-lasting than the solvent based sealers. It is best for more pourous surfaces. We have had reports of it streaking on some applications, so be sure to test it carefully before applying to a large area.
The Impregnator Pro, although solvent based, is almost oderless in application. It's good pookey, too, but the protection won't last as long as the water based materials. So sayeth the manufacturer. Actually, so sayeth most of the manufacturers. Test it before use, too.
TEST ANYTHING you elect to use before you do large, expensive areas, including letting it completely dry per instructions on the package. :shades:
Now maybe some of our real experts will give you more explaination and/or other options. :)

Hi John :)
I think CX pretty much covered it.
I've been using BulletProof and Heavy Duty Stone Sealer on tumbled stone, with great success. I also strongly suggest TESTing first. Samples are available. I also suggest applying one coat, let dry overnight (after buffing off excess), and applying subsequent coats as needed (with overnight drying between coats).

i purchased and used the solvent based impregnator pro a few weeks ago and it hardly smell at all. In fact i didn't even use a mask or open any windows. (I probably should have, though). I did three applications, although they say two is sufficient. I also use the daily cleaner on top of that.
