Hi, we have honed Black Absolute Countertops that resisted everything i.e. tomatoe, lemon etc., however it showed every fingerprint - however the fingerprints were easily wiped away, but we felt like slaves constantly wiping them away. We should have left well enough alone but we complained to the company and they applied acetone, then honed it with a machine, then applied an enhancer, then a sealer. Huge problem, every little spill etches into the sealer and can't be removed by wiping, even rubbing with our fingers removes the sealer like the residue from an eraser. From reading the forum, I now know that they should not have used a sealer on honed Black Absolute. I also read that my stone is probably ok underneath the sealer and that the marks/spills/rubs is most likely the sealer being removed. My questions: Do you think my stone is ok underneath? What should I use to remove the sealer with? How do I test to make sure the sealer is COMPLETLY removed? Should we re-hone once the sealer is removed? Should we apply a color enhancer after that? If we do all this, will we have back our stone that resisted tomatoe/lemon etc? Will the color enhancer fade and should it be reapplied regularly? Last question, if honed absolute just has no business in a kitchen, should we remove it instead and replace with Polished Absolute or is Absolute Polished just as much of a problem as Honed and would Polished need any sealed or enhancer? We are another statistic - unfortunatley, please help us out. Answering these questions will probably help out tons of others too. Thank you. :bang:
