 Some jerk stole my G2 out of the back of my truck in my
driveway. Some Fridays feel like mondays huh? I reported it to
the police and luckily back in Feb when i bought it i took all kinds
of photos to post here on the boards. I was able to provide photo
proof of the serials on the motor and the saw body. I plan on making
another set of prints and posting them in every tile store in my city.
God I HATE F-N THIEVES. I just sold my old saw (foolishly i suppose)
and now without my lively hood im gonna have to bite the bullet and
buy another one on credit or somethin, sheesh :complain:
Sorry to hear that Jack. Theives do suck.
Good idea about pics and serial numbers, hope it gets your saw back.

Sorry about the loss Jack. Chances are the thieves are already smoking up the profits from their sale. Try not to buy a new one on credit if you can help it. That will just give some profit to a different set of theives.

Jack,
Here was have a special detail on the sheriff's dept. that goes around and check pawn shops for stolen goods. Since you have the serial number on record, it might be worth checking into it. I'm sure you have a similar setup.

Jack that sucks dude . Maybe we all need to have Opie shoot the poor bast&&&&&&&. I say if they find the thief he should has his weenie cut off with the saw with no water on the blade. Jack if you get a new saw run some screw eyes thru the bed and run a chain thru it.

What about warehousing and storage units??? I always either leave the saw set up at the jobsite, or it goes into storage over the weekend. I also have a cab on the back of my truck, but the saw never goes in it....always in an enclosed trailer.
Shitty situation....I hope you get it back. What's your H/O deductible? Auto deductible?
It's better than absorbing the entire cost of the saw....you might have an addendum on your business insurance that covers tools....mine was an extra policy, but it covers up to $10,000.00 in stolen equipment. Worth checking into.....

Hi Jack :)
Sorry to hear about your loss. I was working on a job in Chicago years ago, a theif broke the wing window of my van (alarm went off), and hit the power door looks (before the new 10 minute cutoffs became production). Lifted my new Sawzall & Miter Box. Tool house wouldn't even give me a discount for replacement tools. Oh well. I thank God I have a good job, and a valueable talent.
If somebody really wants it, they're going to get it. Now I operate out of a cargo van with no windows in the back. The cage at the front is always locked. Might not stop them, but at least it'll slow em down. It would probably be easier to just steal the van. What am I sayin? :bang: :fim:

We are the same as Arkansas. Or better yet, Arkansas is the same as we are. :) If the stolen goods are identified positively in a pawn shop, the owner of the goods is advised to come and get them. The pawn shop owner is out of luck. Why should anyone have to pay anyone to get back something that is rightfully his/hers? Give me a break.

Terribly sorry about your loss, Jack. I'm seeing a lot more theft on sites lately. I guess it's a reflection of the economy, perhaps? This past Friday, my shop lost two new MK-101Pro 24 saws, an air compressor, a coil nailer and misc hand and power tools from a lock-up bin that was cut open by the thieves. I think I heard that they also hit the plumbers and the electricians' boxes also. Thanksfully, I've not been a victim,...yet.

Jack, that is really a bummer. :crap: Sorry to hear it.......It seems like all of us who have been in the trades for awhile have it happen once in a while.
I mentioned it before so i'll mention it again.
Get an insurance Ryder for your Tile saw added to your tool insurance.
fpr a couple hundred bucks a year you can have 3000.00 blanket on small tools and 1500.00 ryder for your saw.
Thats 1/2 a days wage guys to make sure you can stay in business!!
That law in Florida is stupid, it encourages thievery. In Texas, I have heard of Pawn Shop owners not taking tools without the serial numbers on them.
Shaughnn, I don't know it it has anything to do with the economy or not, maybe so. The building trades aren't doing too bad right now, alot of new tools are being bought. Maybe the thieves are finding more opportunities to steal. We all know they will take advantage of each opportunity given. :)

While filing my report to the police officer she had explained to me
that the local area was hit. Not just a single case of thievery but
they hit all the local construction sites that night. 1/4 mile from my
house a 4 story building is going up, they had a boiling pot stolen. If
your not familiar a boiling pot is the big tar melting contraption that rolls
on its own set of wheels. The officer said it was a $10,500 loss, i guess
i got off relatively easy comparing. :smash:

Steve-0 welcome to the boards, i was just looking at your website. Good
to see real talent in the area. I work mostly up here and try not to venture
south. Keep up the awsome work.
Hi Jack - big fat bummer...
this may sound goofy - but you may keep an eye on Ebay...
Even thieves can hack around on that site. They may be trying to sell it that way.
Maybe you'll get some awesome job(s) soon that will help mitgate that loss.

I took a look on ebay as suggested. I didnt see my saw up there but
i did find the new Target G2 (http://cgi.ebay.com/G2-Target-TileMatic-Tile-Saw-FREE-Scissor-Stand-blade_W0QQitemZ7547729038QQcategoryZ20790QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) for sale for much less then what i paid for it originally. I knew
i should have waited :bang: I paid $1,280.00 total for my saw, Although
i did pop the change for the stainless steel water pan i didnt read through
the entire listing to see if this one listed comes with the SS pan. Hmm im
fortunate enough to have good friends who are letting me borrow a saw
until i can get another. I might just buy another G2 SS and give it a go again.
I think i might try opies idea of making a permanent mounting system in the
back of my truck, besides i put it in the same spot every time it goes in the
truck anyways. Thanx for all the responses, i only posted to refresh your minds about the
losers that run about, im not lookin for sympathy... besides it was my own fault.
New Rule: never leave the saw in the truck....ever ever ever ever ever ever.
that is unless i have either opies mounting system or opie and
his guns sleepin next to my tools.

I feel for you Jack and now know the feeling once again.
I'll be purchasing a new drill for mixing. Some poor bastard stole mine today.
Gutsy SOB too. Broad daylight and I was going in and out of the building.
Went in and came out to make a cut and it was gone.
At least they didn't grab my new DeWalt tile saw.
I don't carry the insurance like Todd does. 18+ years and I beleive this only the second semi major tool I've lost. I believe in self insurance, build a tool replacement fund with that $200 a year. Course if you are just getting started or work in a high crime area it might make more sense.

Hi Scott :)
If you can, check out these mixing drills. (http://www.perlesusa.com/product.asp?dept_id=1&pf_id=1_2)
I have the 120 and it has proven to be more than adequate. They're pricey, but for full batch mixes, in my opinion, can't be beat. The paddles screw on to the end of the mixer, and it also includes a huge plastic case that will house the mixer, two paddles, at necessary wrenches.

how well does that thing work?? I got a new toy this weekend a 8 1/4 compound miter saw that is cordless 18 volt by ryobi. I put in 1500 of a glue down hardwood this weekend with it. I made a cart with wheels on it and my knee pads are on wheels I didnt have to get up very much at all. Was able to drop in 750 feet the first day one handed. Well worth the $100 bucks for a new toy. Not to mention Its sweet for doing shoe molding too and with my dewalt cordless gun its a team. Jack Good luck buddy. I went and bought a 24 ft bread truck this weekl. I goona try and do another one hopefully I wont sell it like the last 2. 24 foot i can pack some sh&t in it.

Hi Dan :)
If you're talking about the mixer, it's phenomenal!
When I was at a distributor it was sitting in a 5 gallon bucket of sand. When I fired it up (expecting a jolt and twist my wrists off), it was actually no more severe than mixing water. One draw back is it works better on larger mixes (at least big enough to cover the paddle).
