Had a saw on the front porch an MK101 an ole one chained up for a few days. Friday nite the dog is barking at about 3 am. So i get out of bed and grab the 12 ga. I hear something outside and low and behold some Jacka$$ is trying to steal my saw. I do not open the front door I grab my cell phone call 911 and report shots fired and I am armed. To get then here quick. I go out the back door climb over the fence and come around the corner with 12 gauge fully loaded as I round the corner I push a shell up in the pump and dude you should have seen the look on the thieves faces when that sound was made. I held them at gun point till the Boy with the badges showed up. First off what jacka$$ would try and steal from the guy on the block that has more fire power than the swat team. And a few dogs that would eat you alive. Damn crack heads. They parked their truck down the street a few houses down so they could carrry the saw and then drive off. Needless to say i am now the neighboorhood security they say. I need a sign in the neighboorhood that says " Opies land mind the sherriff" Just thought i would share my saw save with the gang.

LOL Opie,

The trick is to have two shotguns, one empty, one loaded. Toss him the empty one then you can shoot the armed man that stole your gun and pointed it at ya.

Kidding aside, I'm glad 'the man' didn't shoot you when he got there. A tool thief is a bat rastard in my book. Good job. :yipee:

You won't need the ammo if it's gated...at least I don't think so :p

No I am going to have a gated entry for the new house. What I paid for the house I am in now is why I am here. Saving money for the Opie mansion. hahh

That's nuts, Opie. People will steal anything. I used to think that thieves were too lazy to work hard at stealing heavy items like wet saws, but I think I'll be more careful in the future. How sweet it is that you got to catch them in the act! Musta been hard not to accidentally wing one of them. Personally, I think stealing tools is like stealing horses was in the old west, and should be punished as such.

A farmer in the North island of NZ caught 3 armed men stealing a 4 wheeler farm bike as they tried to get away in their ute he put a round into the back of the vehicle more by good luck than anything else he hit one of the thiefs in the ankle, he was charged by the police with recklesly discharging a firearm and the lawyers costs in the court case will probably result in him loosing his farm, we have had several people here charged with murder for shooting burglars. :bang: We dont have a big gun culture here but lots of rural people have guns the average policeman doesnt carry a gun they depend on pepper spray and a batton. :shake:

Doesn't matter what language you speak. Everyone understands fluently the sound made when a shotgun is pumped.

Jim, that's a heartbreaker to me, and it's happening here too. The Gov't supporting thieves with the laws passed. I've heard of homeowners here getting sued by thieves cutting themselves on backyard 'traps' (nails in a window jamb) set by victims who have been robbed multiple times.

It's actually hurt the thieves more, as instead of getting an ass kickin' they get their body disposed of, because the victim didn't want to get sued or prison time. Not to mention the 'hassle factor' ;)

I figure they'll start making gang-bangers (ex?) cops soon, so the thugs will have complete authority over us normal citizen types just trying to live simple lives. I hope my figurin' is wrong.

Now if it was food, that'd be different in my eyes. Hell I'd feed the block if they asked, and gradma's depression stories struck a chord with me, but drug/fun money seems more to be the case nowadays.

In general, you can't use deadly force to protect your property from being stolen. Now if you are being threatened, that is a different matter.

Hi Nick,

They have different gun laws in Florida.:)

I'm a Jersey gunner. I'm gonna have to try and beat the guy over the head with the gun first. If that doesn't work, I can jump out of a second story window and run. If no window nearby, then maybe I might be justified in firing a warning shot in the guys general direction. Though He might sue me for hurting his hears with the blast.:)

What Nick said.

Unfortunately.

But I've found the police to be rather sympathetic. I axed one, while he was at the jobsite where the home and/or my tool trailer had been broken into for the sixth time in three months, what the real legal situation was on shooting such lowlife. He said, "If he's attacking you with a hammer, you can shoot him. If he doesn't have a hammer, give him one."

I've always been careful not to lock all the hammers inside the trailer, just in case. :D

And I could shoot the sonofabitches one by one on the way out of the trailer without so much as a twinge of conscience, so little respect have I for such persons. And I'd issue each a hammer, even a very good quality hammer, for his very own.

But I'd still fully expect to at least be bankrupted by the "legal" system for my efforts. :(

They just passed a new law in fl. You can now protect yourself inside your car or truck. Without carrying a CWP. I carry a CWP for most states. CWP =concealed weapon permit. Do you guys remmeber police academy. Tackleberry some of my freinds call me that its funny.

A while back I was reading in a gun magazine and it told how the gun laws were different in each state. It said in Texas the law was different after dark than during the day. You could shot to kill if someone was stealing your property after dark. I haven't put that law to the test and I hope that law still stands.

LG, nothing wrong with having guns. Each one of my kids learned at a young age how to handle, shoot and respect guns. We never worried about them finding a gun at a friend's house and not knowing what to do. We target practiced and shot skeet many, many times. They loved it. :)

Opie, why would LG have a Pomerain? A Pomerain is a native of a region in N Europe on the Baltic Sea; formerly in Germany, now mostly in Poland,
a former province of Prussia previously known as Pomerainia.

These beings are noted for their slovenly appearance, poor hygiene, indiscriminate mating habits, and total dishonesty. They support themselves by selling off their children to pedophiles and pharmaceutical companies for experimentation.

In the late 1930's they were expelled from their native region and immigrated (illegally) to the US. The largest concentration can be found in the Jacksonville, Fl area.

Shooting someone in the leg isn't exactly deadly force. Does the law look at it differently?

cx
08-28-2005, 12:14 PM
I think that just opens more worm cans, Steve. Peoples get shot inna leg can testify in court and say all sorts of untruthful things. Needs to be only one story bein' tole, specially if it ain't entirely truthful.

Besides, don't nobody never need to be shot inna leg. Any time a man needs any shootin' at all, he needs enough shootin' to make him dead, far as I'm concerned. :shades:

A few years ago someone was trying to break into the house. Everyone that is dear to me was sleeping on the third floor. I'm glad I had a 357 available rather than a pocket rat :D .

As for waiting for the sheriff...it only took them 15 minutes to get there after I called 911.

This is why South Carolina is such a wonderful state to live in. Lots an lots of swamps you can drag a carcass to and never have to worry over lil unimportant details such as the legalities of shooting (to kill) some low life scumbag do nuthin thats taking things you've worked hard for.
No prick of consiouse either. Nosiree. Likewise anyone that harmed one of my kids, or grandkids.
I've always been a believer in DIY. :D

In NYC they usually sit 'em up against a wall with a brown bag in their lap. Nobody bothers them for months. :D
