Yep, the moderating gig is footing the bill....not! I'm not complaining though, the vacation benefit as a mod makes it all worthwhile. :D
The car is a 2002 Audi TT Coupe. 6 speed manual with 225HP. A very nice ride indeed!

Well, it was a heck of a day. Flew into Philly Friday morning and took the train out to Doylestown. Dealer picked me up in one of them new Mercedes tanks. Everything was great, completed the paperwork and drove the car off the lot.
Fast forward about an hour, I've driven the new ride exactly 40 miles and...some %#$@ is in my lane as I come around a sharp bend in the road. I do my best to avoid a headon and he smacks right into the rear of my driver's door doing about15mph. :crap:
Not a great day. EMT's arrive and check me out (bumped my head). I feel fine except for the lump on my head still hurts. PA state trooper arrives and does the whole accident report thing. Cites the other guy for excessive speed.
My car is still drivable so I just made it home. Now it has to go in the shop and get put back together properly.
Cop was great, EMT's were great, my insurance company was great. Other driver...words can't describe what I'd like to have happen to him. :whip:
On the bright side...I'm alive! :D

Hi Joe :)
Glad to hear you're ok. Bummer that you didn't even get the car home.
I hope you meant 115 mph. I can drive backwards going 15 mph. :D
If you was in a truck, you probably wouldn't been able to manuever as you did & be here to share your story. :shake:
Ok...I think we're being messed with here....posts a picture of an Audi, then says he picked up a Mercedes....then says he crashes it.....come on, admit it...you got a 78 Hyundi Pony didn't you? :yeah:

Nice Hyundai Bri! Not even close to the Audi though, even with the damage!
BTW - said I got picked up in a Mercedes, not that i picked up a Mercedes.

Hi Joe :)
Good thing you didn't have your arm hanging out of the window. You looked a little bummed in your JB Album photo. Was it taken after the accident? :shades:
You know you have a nice car...when it looks great even with a ding like that! :yipee:
Just put a Felker sticker over it...no one will notice...except maybe Todd. :yeah:

Bri you may be onto something there. Maybe I should slap a coat of yeller paint on it and call it good! :D
As to the photo of me, that was a different day a few weeks ago. My younger son took that one, he's 8 years old. Handled the camera pretty well too.

Got the estimate for repairing the Audi today - $5,200. This could go up of course if they find additional damage. Going to take a few weeks before I get it back too.

Hi Joe :)
It's just bizzare, isn't it? When my new van was broadsided, estimate was for over 7k. Didn't even touch the frame (except for some paint from the hood of the other guys car). Kinda makes you want to get a new one, huh?
Hopefully you have an excellent body shop. I had mine repaired at one of the areas best (of two).
jgleason
08-22-2005, 08:16 PM
The shop I'm using is a good one. They also do any bodywork needed for the local Audi dealership which is helpful.
New door, new rear quarter panel, new rear wheel, some frame work, paint of course and the usual sundries. The worst part is waiting for it to be done.
Opie, the TT's don't come cheap. It was a bit of a luxury to buy it but I've been making pretty decent wages since getting out of theatre and into computers. Felt the time was right to indulge.
The other guy is lucky I didn't have a shotgun with me. I may have just used it!

Branty, that's funny. Here in San Francisco we have tons also. But it's a Silicon Valley thing, not a Noe Valley thing. :yeah:
