You can buy almost anything at huge discounts, but you have to attend their open house before they will disclose the membership fee. Just wondered if any one knew the cost. www.directbuy.com I think. Joe.

A friend got involved with them, and I never did understand how you're saving when you have to pay something up front. I'd rather just go directly to a store and get what I want without all that membership rubbish.
My husband and I joined. Whether it is worth it just depends. It is pretty expensive but if you have a lot of things to buy (we were building a new house) then you can save big but if not, it may not be such a good deal. The open house is no strings attached. However, when you go there you have to be prepared to decide to join or not right then. My advice if you are thinking about it is to figure our what you need to buy in the next several years and price the items out. Take the info (model numbers, prices) to the open house and price everything out and see if you would save more than the membership costs. Beware of hidden freight costs!!! Some items can be very expensive to ship if they are heavy or bulky. If you have any other questions, feel free to pm me.

Holy S***!! My wife works with a lady who recently joined, 1 1/2 hour presentation, must decide at that time, 4,700.00 up front with a 100.00 yearly maintenance good for 10 yrs. We will be buying a lot of things in near future but not that many things. We will stick with our method of discounts by way of wife flirting with sales dude, seems to work, shes hot. I get to flirt with the gay sales guys, lucky me. Joe.

The prices aren't that great and many times I was able to find the same products at less money than Direct Buy was selling them. Product selection was limited in my opinion as well, not near the number of lines or quality lines that they try to make it out as having.

Any time you get a sales pitch and you have to make up your mind on the spot, make up your mind to run for the door!

Bob, I can't agree more with you. scarcity/time-limit/self-image/insecurity.(psych 101) My pop was in marketing/advertising, he had too much spine for those kind of sales.
Manufac. reps and sale are totally honerable profession, different animal.
Shortguy, LMAO. I couldn't pull it off, I'd start gigglin' before I got a good deal.

wife and I joined 10+ yrs ago for $1000 - wouldn't do it again today even at that price. You really have to assess your needs AND your buying/shopping styles. However, we are continuing to pay the annual fee because we are saving a LOT of money on tile and fixtures for current remodeling. Will never recoup the sunk money, but the last couple of years have more than paid for dues. When that ceases to be the case we will drop out. The part about the shipping is very true - wipes out a lot of the "savings."
