We laid 12 X 12 quartzite stone tile flooring about a week ago, and grouted it yesterday. Though we cleaned carefully with damp sponges after grouting, the stone now looks much lighter and has "lost" a lot of its colour.
Is this the "haze" that others are asking about? The stone has a very rough natural finish, so I'm not asking about hazing over a shiny surface.
We did seal the stone after laying it, two coats per the sealer manufacturer's instruction. I've been reading the forum... don't know for sure if the sealer was "penetrating" or "topical" but I believe penetrating.
The grout manufacturer said to mist the stone regularly for three days to aid in curing the grout. When I wet the floor this morning, it looked great, but as it dried it returned to the over-white look I'd like to fix.
Do I clean this with weak acid, as I've seen others suggest for haze? If not, what?
Thanks for any help.
Mark
