Used Marble Table

I recently purchased a used polished gray marble table and base. I cleaned with stone cleaner, but there appears to be spots that I have not been able to remove. The table looks nice and spotless when standing directly over it. When viewed from an angle, the spots show.
They look like surface spots. Any sugggestions?
There are also tiny chips around the edge of the table. Is there any way that I can smooth the chips myself?

Hi Blondie :)

Your marble is "etched". A good fabrication shop or restoration specialist can fix this in a jiff. Same holds true for the chips. This is not a good DIY project. There are some polishing kits available, but it's a hit and miss proposition. If the table is of any value, have it done by a professional.

Thanks, John. I will try using the table first. It is not really bad, it is that I know that the spots are there. If it becomes an eyesore, I will call in the professionals.
